BMW mods have the BMW tax (same as Supra or Skyline Tax). Look in this forum and you will see no shortage of people that mod their Evo's way too far, sell it because they want something more "comfortable" or less "boy racerish" (aka more upscale) and they almost ALWAYS come back to this platform........usually with more sane mods in mind.

very true... I think the best option is to just have an EVO as a second car. Because this way you are less likely to fall in this category. Daily driving, modding and having it break down(which at times when it does happen is something major) can have a very negative impact on retaining the car and ultimately people sell them only to miss them after they realize how much they miss their Evo. Get cheap car as a daily driver and save for an Evo as a weekend car if you can afford it.

There are usually consequences to modding any car. I been there and done both sides of the fence and I rather do it having the Evo as a secondary car and not daily driving it.

OP, you have the advantage that your BMW is paid off. So if it is running good and has not given you or is giving you any issues then keep it and save to buy an Evo as a weekend car.
Or, sell your current car and buy a true daily driver that is good on gas, reliable, cheaper to fix and comfortable.... like a Civic, Hyundai or Corolla.
And save for an Evo. It may take you longer to do this but trust me you will be much safer and happier.

Perfect post!

I drove my IX all throughout high school and college and I was sick of DDing it. The choice depends on what you want to do with the car. To me, it's simple.

Daily Driver - M3
Weekend warrior - EVO
