Quick question about the MR 6-speed VS the GSR/SE 5-speed. Could I get some sort of work done to the MR 6-speed to make it as, if not more, superior than the GSR/SE's 5-speed? Or is it just doomed from creation? I'm most likely going to keep it below or up to 420whp for awhile till I save up for a bigger turbo. It'll be daily driven about 20 miles average to class/work.

I can't tell whether you actually want a 5 speed or a reliable 6 speed...But don't buy a car where you have a laundry list of huge things to upgrade (trans) right from the start just because it's a 'good deal' at the time.

I have no clue. I thought going with a 6-speed would have been a great idea. At first I wanted a 6-speed cause that's what I'm currently driving, and I love it. I don't want to be at like 3,000 RPM on the freeway.

Then when it comes to Evos.. I read around this forum for a bit, and it seems like everyone is saying the 6-speed will have issues going over 450whp. Something about it not holding power well, and issues with 4th. I'll be dailying the car, so I need it to be the most reliable option.

If I end up with this Evo IX MR. There's not much I'd do to it for some time. It sounds good enough to keep me happy while I'm commuting. Next would just be cams, E85, and somewhere down the line.. a bigger turbo. Other than that, I'd rock it as-is for awhile.

It's complicated. I have $8k. I've been saving to use it as a down payment towards an Evo X, until I looked more into a IX cause I started making friends with Evo owners.. LOL. At the same time, I'm trying to sell my current car for about $9k. It's been no bueno lately.

The guy with the EVO IX MR was interested in trading for my car. He agreed to value my car at $10k, but wants $8.5k on top for his salvaged Evo IX. So I walked away firm at $15k. Guess it's back to saving!

Will do! I don't mind the salvage title as long as my mechanic gives me the okay, I plan to keep the Evo for as long as I can.
