So far in my Evo search
Yesterday my wife and I drove a little over 60 miles(one way) to check out an Evo IX MR for $17k. Not looking for a MR but decided I would go look anyway to see how the condition was. The ad showed the car as good condition, just had 118k miles. Once I get there I start looking it over and see that the paint is not that good, really bad fading on the hood, wheels had curb rash (all four), then noticed that the windshield trim was bent. This threw up a red flag to me, faded paint means little to me since I can buff it back. Started checking for tape lines in the jams, both front fenders, trunk, quarters and passenger doors had been painted, long time ago since the fade matched the rest of the car.
On to the interior, rattles everywhere, missing indicator panel for the a/c controls.
The plus side was that the car drove great, super smooth, and pulled hard.
Just blew me away with how badly the car had been treated. Well on to the next one.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really want a IX SE but I love the electric blue on these cars so I may just search for that instead. That and everyone seems to have black, gray, or silver.
wow a evo 9 with 117k miles already thats a definitely red flag man, i live in florida and there was a evo 9 with 124K on it for 16,500 and thats alot the most i seen on evos have been 110K miles and thats on a 03 evo

well it also depends where you live too, all i can is dont rush have patients cuz im in the market for one too but ppl down here sell these evo 8 for 17-18k when there really worth 13-14k just keep looking and good luck
Just a note from my evo hunting experience, don't always go by miles, I went that route and ended up fixing quite a bit on the car due to previous owner abuse and neglect.
Look at wear items that tell you how it's been driven. What clutch # it's on, wear on the brake/clutch pedal etc.
Hindsight being 20/20, I'd take a highway miles evo with 100k on the stock clutch than one on it's third clutch at 60k (like mine ended up being) Sure was a fun first job on the car....
