I have an 8 and I have wondered why they moved the 9 oil switch to the filter housing. Your photograph answers that.

To update this : I ordered a new check valve, a new oil feed line, and a new conical filter since the oil control valve still works. We will see what happens.

I know this is old, but did you ever get this issued figured out Sheasta? I'm throwing a P0011 right now and haven't been able to figure out the issue. So far I've only tried replacing the oil feed valve but that didn't fix it. Mine doesn't make any funny noises but when I try to log MIVEC it basically bounces between -4, 0, and 4 and a few numbers in between.

When you start getting an oil light don't ignore it. Find out what is going on with oil pressure before worrying about other parts of the engine. Connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what the pressure actually is. If the oil pressure is normal, replace the oil sending unit.

I'll keep an eye on it. So far I haven't seen anything from the oil light though. I'm starting to wonder more and more if my line is clogged because I have been having some crankcase pressure issues.
