Thats when to me its not worth it. You have to be worried in public because of some DBags.

I felt the same way about my Honda and its one of the reasons I sold it. Its really bad for Hondas because there are more people that are always doing **** on the cheap and can't afford really nice stuff because lets face it, its just a civic/integra is the mentality so they figure they will take your stuff.

You said "them" so they charged more than one of those kids with the larceny?

Funny story: I was in Chinatown last weekend for a dinner with a girl I'm seeing and parked my Evo right in front of the restaurant (cause Im not about to park it in some dark parking lot in Chicago's CHINATOWN, of all places)

When I walked out with her, we notice two guys walking by the Evo and while they were walking, they kept glancing over at the Evo, admiring it.

My girl was like "why were those guys admiring your car???" She thought it was funny to see two guys drool over something like a car. (She's not into cars at all, obviously)

I replied "cause it's an Evo and has a great reputation"

These are the moments why I love my Evo so friggin much.

Yes, they caught the first kid during the IHOP sting operation (still makes me chuckle when I say that)

The first kid admitted a 2nd friend helped him so the police nabbed the accomplice afterwards at his house, I think. They both were charged.

I know you posted in December but welcome to the club! This happened about a year and a half ago to me I believe.

I'm not sure how you made out but I made out like a bandit from insurance when all was said and done. Got $1056 per rim then another 200 or so per tire lol. I was more pissed they busted out my passenger side window. I found the rims on Craigslist a few months later but the police said there was nothing they could do because I couldn't prove they were my rims. Just so happened they were Plasti Dipped red just like I had and some idiot was trying to run them on his WRX... He was selling them because they didn't fit.

This story killed about an hour of work for me, good story glad to hear justice prevails!

This right here is why I will never let me evo go. Took my mom to the store the other day and sitting at a red light a speed3 pulls up, signals to put my window down and screams "I. F******G. LOVE. YOUR. CAR!" I just smile give him and thumbs up and said thanks. My mother, however, was so puzzled by why she just experienced lol
So much love and respect for evo's from all car enthusiasts congrats on getting your rims back back.

There is seriously something gut-punching about the sight of your wheel-less car. When I first discovered my evo sitting on blocks, I think I stopped and stared for a good five minutes completely dumbfounded and speechless.

Did you have wheel locks? I see they left you the lugs, the punk *** kids who stole mine even took my lugs so I had to pay $60 bucks just to buy a separate set from Discount Tire.

I'm not surprised the cops were reluctant to help; I had to basically bug them for a few days and send them documents and pictures trying to match up the distinct curb rash on my rims to the ones the thieves were offering. It also helped that I had winter Pirelli tires that were discontinued.

I would have gotten at least $1000 from insurance but my $500 deductible would have been in play as well

Thanks man. It was really awesome to see a bunch of other Evo enthusiasts chime in and give advice or just simply "sorry to hear that bro" when I first wrote that post, cause honestly, I was well prepared to count it as a lesson learned!

Great story OP! Makes me regret not being more diligent scanning Craigslist for my BBS rims when they were stolen.

If they were the stock MR rims like mine which they look like from the picture you would most likely have got almost 6 grand total. I had a 500 deductible and pocketed almost $5500. I went from crazy pissed to well that turned out much better than expected. I ended up picking up some 18 inch RPF1's with tires from my tuner for $800 bucks so it really didn't turn out too bad, I should have thanked the guy when I found them on Craigslist haha.

I did have wheel locks but like a dumb *** I had the key in my glove box lol. The cop explained to me how they busted out my window, emptied my glove box, found the key and jacked the rims. I was really lucky they didn't get my golf clubs in the trunk, they are worth thousands and I had no way of proving they were in the car at the time. They ended up stealing my locks and leaving the lugs for some reason so I had to buy lugs as well.

Glad they ended up catching the guys who jacked yours, any idea what they were found guilty of and their punishment?

Trial is on Thursday; punishment should be probation with community service
