*sigh* rims stolen off my evo
Exactly. I lost my wheel lock key and all I used was a stripped bolt extractor socket and it removed the wheel locks in no time. Definitely sucks that it happened though. Let us know how you make out with insurance.
Damn, OPs looked like a winter tire in the first pic!
OP-good luck, hopefully they are your's. Bring the popo with you to pic em up if they are.
Anybody know him? He hasn't signed on in a few days, maybe someone can get a hold of him to let him know these might be his.

bastard!
Hey guys, thanks for all the love and support! Here are some updates and responses to random posts:
Politics: Thank you but no thank you. At least not in this thread. The rims are the focus, lets keep it on that. :-)
Wheel locks: I didn't have wheel locks, but I will get them. I've heard that they are kinda ineffective but at least I won't have to peek outside every hour whenever I'm at a bar and parked in the lot. (I think I'm suffering from minor PTSD from this)
CraigsList: YEAH. THOSE ARE MY RIMS. I found the rims on CL a couple days ago and have been frantically reaching out to the Chicago cops and its not looking great. Since I have no documentation on the Perilli tires (they were installed by the previous owner and he's looking for paperwork) and no specific serial numbers on the rims, the cops can't do much unless they is other evidence supporting my claim. The strongest proof I have is:
1) There is distinctive curb rash on one of the rims and the rest are almost perfect (pics attached). I've sent the cops the pics that show the curb rash from my old pics and the seller's emailed pics.
2) the BBS evo rims are super rare and the Perilli snow tires I had on them are also super rare. It would be a huge coincidence that this seller managed to have the same rim/tire combo as my stolen ones.
I've reached out to the seller to act as a interested buyer (he wants 2200, was willing to accept 1400. Bastard) and promised I would buy them Friday.
(Interestingly enough, I suspect that this guy makes an income stealing parts because he mentioned he stored the wheels at a "storage facility" and in the background of one of the pics was an older-model Acura Integra, one of the most popular stolen cars of all time)
Not sure what else I can do here. Not even sure If I should meet up with the guy on Friday...

No I don't believe they were.
As for guns, I don't know if we are legally allowed yet to go CCW or even holster a gun in public. (I also have to figure out which of my friends owns a firearm)
That sucks that you KNOW those are your wheels, but cant do much about it.
If he has the brass to post them up so quickly, and indeed does steal parts for a living, i'd assume he's strapped up too.
careful OP.

Worst case scenario: My insurance will cover the loss but it'll be $500 bucks for the deductible.
I do want to confront this guy but I will be wary.
I've gotten them involved but they aren't so sure they have a case without more concrete evidence that they are mine. To be clear, the detective assigned to my case believes they're mine but it won't hold up in court or even probable cause for him to do deeper digging.

Best bet is to see if he has any other Evo parts that have a vin and try to buy those too. Show up and get all the vins you can. Then have them run and hope something pops as stolen. You'll have him then.
