*sigh* rims stolen off my evo
Why can't the cops question the guy and ask him where he got the wheels from? The wheels and tires match the pictures that you have from your car. Man I would blast that guy's house in a sec! Unbelievable, I hate people like that. Anyways, good luck OP and be safe.

Wow...............I don't know if I would have the same restraint you have shown, but it is smart I guess.
If you go there with a gun that is a good way to either get shot or have to kill someone, neither is a good idea. Personally I would bring 10 of the biggest guys I could round up, keep them a half block away, and call them in with a text just as you are loading the rims into your vehicle, and you are 100% sure they are yours. At that point, he would have to prove that they were his. Let us know how you make out.

Downright bull****. I'm pretty pissed just reading this. I really hope something comes through for you OP and you get your wheels back.
Have you told your insurance company you've found your wheels? They probably have a lot to gain by getting them back, given how expensive they are new.

Whoa things getting a little interesting.
Chicago Detective called me this morning and when I told him everything regarding the scarcity of the rims/tires combination and my pictures, he told me to find out where he lived.
EDIT: WILL UPDATE LATER

Also, with insurance, I can pay a $500 deductible to get replacement rims but I'm holding off on cashing the check because I have to give back the old rims If I manage to retrieve them.

So now we are going to meet at a restaurant parking lot at 11 and the police will have some guys there.

Honestly, this is probably something you shouldn't be speaking about just yet until it does down. You might as well have plastered bill boards across town and handed out flyers around that restaurant that this was going down. I mean you are aware this guy likely has access to the internet, right?
Can't wait to updates on this; would be ironic if this is thr same dude who stole my SE BBS back in august 2011.
Regardless, don't even pretend to flex with a gun or anything....the felony isn't worth it. Let the police handle it, especially since you finally have a detective that is on the case.

I've gotten them involved but they aren't so sure they have a case without more concrete evidence that they are mine. To be clear, the detective assigned to my case believes they're mine but it won't hold up in court or even probable cause for him to do deeper digging.
Sorry if I missed it but are there any serial #'s that could tie the wheels to you car? This is BS as the burden of proof should be on "Zach" to prove he purchased and own these.
OP, I work in Glenview (where he claims to be) if I can do anything that doesn't involve me going to jail, I'm glad to help. I hate thieves.
