Water pump cap blew off

Hey guys. So yesterday I switched out my Injen uicp for the Nisei short route one.
Pretty sure that's irrelevant but after I went for a test drive and noticed a loud pop. Car was fine until I pulled over and noticed smoke. The cap on my water pump popped off from the pressure I guess.

Anyone have an experience like this? Why did this happen? Fresh water pump/timing belt/tensioner blah blah. Just had it serviced.

if it's broke, repair it. if you never replace it, then the water pump not last forever.. so consider the cost for 60k service aprox

Everything was just replaced as stated in my post. Brand new.
I'm wondering why this would happen. Just a bad pump?

I had my #4 cylinder and tranny cap blow off at the same time a couple months ago. More than likely there was a small air pocket in the cooling system. That air will turn into steam and that steam has nowhere else to go but out. I just replaced my caps with new OEM ones, re-flushed my coolant and I was on my way. Haven't had a problem since.

That is from a bubble in the system... seems like it wasn't burped all the way...

hope air in the system. this also happens when you lift the head. make sure there is no oil in your coolant.
