AMS F1 intake manifold question

Hey guys and gals,

Can someone please tell me the size of the vacuum ports on the AMS intake mani or what size NPT fittings that would go in each port? There are 4 of them that are the same and then there is a bigger one by the map sensor. The manifold is on the car at the moment but don't want to take it off...yet.

Looking on installing a catch can and found a NPT to -AN adapter.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Do you really want a catch can connected to the manifold?

Was wondering the same thing myself... Your best bet would be to contact AMS but I'm sure someone on here knows the details.

1 x 1/4" NPT

Hope that helps you out

I hope I don't? Lol. I found a NPT to -AN adapter that mates up to a -10AN check valve. Thought that would work well. Not sure how I could stuff it up though?

Thank you Dallin for the sizes

The check valve goes in valve cover line not intake manifold. You sure you should be installing parts when you don't know where they go/ how they are set up? Not trying to be rude but maybe a shop should finish install

No thats fine. Catch can is going to be installed in between pcv and manifold. A check valve is needed in the line going from the manifold to catch can to stop the can from pressurizing when on boost. But I'm guessing you already knew that.

Um.....

The catch can will still be under pressure under boost if you hook it up to the intake manifold even with a check valve...

under boost, more gas leaks past the rings, causing more gas in the crankcase, causing more gas in the valve cover, causing more gas in the catch can....

If it was routed to the intake, it would hit a wall then, as your check valve will not open until your PCV system was higher than your boost pressure. = not good.

Route it to the intake BEFORE the turbo like you should.

OK...

I have 2 catch cans I want to install. One between the PCV and mani and the other between vc vent and intake pipe. Upon installing the PCV side, stock PCV will be removed hence why I am putting check valve in between mani and can. Is this wrong? It's been done many times. This is basically how the stock PCV system works. Uses manifold vacuum to help recycle blow by gas back into the cylinder. But in this instance, a can will be in line to help catch the contaminants. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Perhaps a vented can would be of more use?

The stock system doesn't use manifold vacuum, it uses pre turbo intake vacuum.

Pre-turbo is always at or below atmosphere pressure, The intake manifold is not.
