Is it possible to swap in an ecu from an EVO 8? I feel like I read a tread on here about a guy doing that and it working. If so it would open you up to a ton of stuff that probably isn't available on an ecu from a vi. Just throwing it out there. Think of all the 2 byte mods and there's already ways to run the omni 4 bar on here with an EVO 8 ecu.

I post over on the MLR and i'm not a paid member.

Anyway, evo4s don't run MAP sensors, only MAF, I don't even think an evo6 ecu would support it, but I could be wrong.

Couldn't you just use ecuflash to copy all of your maps over to the VIII ecu? 8 ecu's are going for pretty cheap on eBay these days.

^^I don't think its as simple as copy and paste. You can add a MAP sensor and get it to work with the right wiring however.

So then I am much better off running a boost controller? Will evoscan not log any boost because there is no map sensor?

A boost controller is the way to go for now it seems, if you cant find someone with the expertise to wire a boost solenoid and make the ECU adjustments. Evoscan will not log boost and so you will have to make note of the peak boost and where the boost holds for each run and use that the guide your tuning.
