Hey guys. I'm looking at buying another VIII that looks like it's had the crap beat out of it. It's not going to be a DD or anything but I'm trying to assess how much of a money pit I'm getting myself into. Two questions:

1) It's got lowering springs that butchered the handling, so I'm thinking I'll just source some OEM springs from a part out. What should I expect to pay for those? Any aftermarket options that I should consider at that price point?

2) The motor was rebuilt by Boosted Tuning and the transfer case was done by Shep. I know Shep is reputable but I've been away from the Evo scene for a while and I'm not sure how reputable Boosted Tuning is. Obviously maintenance is a big factor but is there any reason to be hesitant about that rebuilt motor?

 

If you're looking into buying something thats had the sh*t beat out of it. You might as well try and get it for the cheapest price possible so you, yourself, can rebuild the motor/trans and fix up whatever else there is that's needed. Like you said, it's not for a DD, so you would have tons of time to fix her up and money shouldn't be an issue in the first place when buying a 2nd, 3rd or 4th etc.. evo.

I personally wouldn't bother with OEM springs/suspension. Might as well go aftermarket if it isn't a DD.
