Open Rant to Mitsu!
You make a lot of sense and I see where your comming from.
But, I was charged seperately for the tire rotation on top of the oil change so i wasnt including that in my rant. As for the washing my car gets so beat to crap and its white I dont care about the whole machine thing. I just felt like whinng and think
would be much better off if they took care of customers like myself and others who buy cars in this price range who are inclined to service with the dealer rather than **** us off.

I just had it done at my dealer for $75 bucks, which is not out of line seeing as it costs $50 for a synthetic change at the quick lube where they don't do a rotation. I know BMW dealers wash the car but I'd really rather do that myself. I sure don't want them running it through a machine wash.

This is a big reason why the R32 is looking so nice. Although Im sure VW isn't perfect, I hear horror stories from people I know, about MITSUBISHI, more then any other car maker out there. At least 3 times as often (not counting this forum, mind you).

This is why Mitsu has horrible resale value. This is why Mitsu is in dire financial straits.
The best thing in this thread is lethe money talk.. Find a local performance shop and let them do you r maintenance and such. It will be done right becuase their reputationis on the line and they eat each meal based on that reputation. They care about how you're treated becuase they want you to coem back and to be happy. Until Mitsu Corp enforces or rewards dealers for proper customer satisfaction, it won't change. The best way to do it is by avoiding the dealership at all costs.
It's really a win, win, win situation if done right. You get better care and usually for a less expense and in the long run Mitsu gets a clue and when it gets bad, they often really shape up and you get nice car washes and donuts while they give you 4 free oil changes..
If they don't treat you right, don't go back. SImply write a nice letter explaining how much they suck.

now i dont have an evo... but its all the dealer you choose... normally my oil change is about 20$... today i went in for my lancers 15k deal... normally 70$ and b/c i had to wait an hour for it... even though they told me it was gonna take about an hour... they stamped my bill and said it was on the house b/c of the wait.
i have an oz and i bought it used from a mitsu dealer. when i got it they gave me 10 free oil changes as some incentive. but obviously all they do is change the oil and nothing else...once they might have topped off my fluids for me, but that's it. i prefer washing my own car anyway, takes me a while to wash/wax my baby
SM is pretty bad...they have yet to fix a ding on my door as part of a due bill. their excuse is that that they fired their dent repair guy and are waiting to find a new one. It has been over a month.
Not only that, but the parts dept. charged me a little over $10.00 for filter and washer. What a grip!

I will never own another Mitsu again. You would think that Mitsu would be licking my ***. I have purchased 2 cars from SHELTON Mitsu in Shelton, both of which I am still paying for and you would think that they would be taking care of me. WELL of course not, that would be stupid of me to think that. I will NEVER get my car service at this dealership again, and it is right down the street from me. The service mananger there is the biggest, most arrogant, piece of **** I have ever encountered.
that is just my experience.

I think there might be some perception issues here. IMO $30K is not a lot of money any more, at least compared to the more luxury sport market. $30K can about squeak you into a bimmer, a nicely equiped A4, or the baby benz. For this money there are some fantasic "mainstream" vehicles - Evo, Suby, VW, Toyota, Honda, Nissan - but, in my experience you still arent up to bat when it comes to luxury service.
Audi is trying to get its act together, my S4 buying "experience" was sub par compared to my BMW purchases. My Evo and two WRX buys still felt "slimey". The Mitsu dealerships I've been to in San Diego have been polite, and that's all I expect. I always feel like I'm going to get pounced on by some sales jockey/newbie when I pass through the cars. Nissan is not any better. Honda to me is the worst in "feel". Just hate them places. The service back ends can vary, from awful to beyond BMW/MBZ.
BMW, Porsche, MBZ just have better (and yes, still "snakey") salesmen, attitude, leeway with service (BMW always has a $5K markup built in + backend deals, plus parts are $$$ - excellent quality IMO). All this yields "better" or more "expected" service. But, you have to be ready to pay for it. These types of buyers don't squabble as much about price, they want one, they can afford one, and they want it now. They come in with large down payments, take to leasing almost 60% (IIRC) of the time, are brand loyal, and have great credit (usually from large amounts of debt or credit revolving). Pair this with a good, experienced salesperson and you can have a pleasant experience (with or without the ky
I do not think there's enough momentum or capability from Mitsu or any other mainstream vehicle maker to offer the kind of service and support as the speciality makers. I do not have my car serviced at the dealer, I find my own people that I trust and can talk to - but, finding someone you can trust, talk to and understand at a dealership is worth the search. I use the dealerships to buy Mitsu service parts because I understand the quality and sometimes necessity of using OEM parts in certain areas - they're always polite in parts and that's all I expect.

You're missing the point. We bought their "flagship" car, and they treat us like we're hobos who happened to stumble in there and start bothering them. The outright price is irrelevant, this car is mitsu’s "viper", and they treat you like ****.

I do agree with you that people regardless of what they drive should be treated nicely, I know what it's like to be treated poorly by some of these monkeys.
i know that this is a rant thread on mitsu. but i just wanted to give props to my dealership. from the first time i stepped on the lot they have treated me with up most respect. i went in wary because i'm a female and i know a lot of auto people try to take advantage of them, but this has never been the case there. my sales guy has always gone out of his way to take care of me, he even let me have the car for the weekend before i bought it to make sure it was what i really wanted. as far as the service department goes they have also be awesome. i had a CEL come on the past week, i took it down there and told them about it. they immediately took my car back pulled the codes and found out there was something not plugged in all the way. they also replaced some of those plastic snap things on my air in-take that had come off. they didn't try to charge me for a cent, just sent me on my way and apologized for the inconvenience. i guess i'm lucky that i found a really good dealership and i really feel for a lot of u that seemed to have found the worst of the worst. i've read a lot of these threads of people complaining about their service and just felt i had let people know there r some, maybe just a few, good mitsu. dealerships out there.

I'd call Mitsubishi... my dealer basically made up all this stuff about PitPass and warranties which I ignored since I was moving out of the city anyway and only cared about the deal.. but to add insult to injury they wanted me to fill out a report card from mitsubishi with everything marked excellent in exchange for a free oil change. I emailed JD Power saying that I felt this was dishonest to say the least, and they rewarded my feedback by forwarding my email to the dealer with my email address and headers attached. Needless to say my slimy dealer called me saying that I was a jerk and that he might lose his job if he doesn't get perfects every time. I was like "whatever" since I know he's doing the best of the group and no manager would fire his top sales guy. So I called mitsubishi and they forwarded me to a customer service rep who was very interested in what was going on.. or at least she seemed that way.
Oh, another thing. I happen to work for one of the world's largest car companies, and I usually wear my work ID when I get work done on my car. People seem less likely to BS when you're wearing a badge from a car company... an interesting tactic for those who have it available to them.
