So I have already tried this post over in the ecu management section and got no results after weeks. I know this section gets more traffic. I run tephra v7 in my 03 evo and I have hooked up ecuflash to the car and evoscan about a year ago. A month or so ago I needed to enter the ecu and was able to read my rom and write as much as i want in ecuflash. I open evoscan 2.9 that i just purchased the night before (Ecuflash wasn't on this laptop). It will not connect. I am using my 1.3 cable that flashes fine. Tried my cable on my friends laptop that has been on 20+ evos including mine and same issue. Then tried his 1.3 cable and laptop with v2.9 of evoscan. Same issue. He has old evoscan versions on his computer, 2.5 i forget which others, tried a few of those with both cables same thing. Funny thing is if you try to read dtc's and clear them with evoscan it works fine. The minute you try to link for live data the box stays yellow and after 30 seconds or so it just says link disengaged and it failed. Anybody have some input for me? I need to tune this car asap
Just to make sure I'm understanding your post correctly..
Your cable works w/ Ecuflash on your car with your laptop.
Your cable doesn't works w/ Evoscan on your car with your laptop.
Another, known good cable doesn't work w/ Evoscan on your car with your laptop.
Both your and someone else's cable don't work w/ evoscan on your car with both your and someone else's laptop.
Did I get that right? If I did, it would seem like it's something with your car, but I don't see what that could be. Maybe check that the wires to your OBD port all look normal? Just a shot in the dark though..

May also want to make sure the newer version of ecuflash is still compatible with the cable your using. You may want to try and find an older version of ecuflash to use on your newer laptop.
Yes Raptord you are correct. Thanks for summarizing. I apologize for writing it in a paragraph like that. It makes it hard to understand.
Exactly. Seems like its the car but does evoscan and ecuflash use different wires on the obd2 port and the connector next to it? I am trying to figure out why ecuflash would work and evoscan not.
ronaldo9 I tried older versions of evoscan. I forget what all the version number were but one version didn't even have the option to select 2.0 cable because it wasn't out yet.
Like I said I have used evoscan and a 1.3 cable on this car a year ago. Not sure what version I used back then. I know for a fact I used the same cable I have now.
Phizzalot, I also used my friends laptop which connects to his evo fine. Would not connect to mine. I am pretty much blaming my car but i can't pinpoint why

Not sure if this is the issue as well but I saw this on another thread. Do you have the correct path stored so evoscan knows where to find the xmls. You mentioned you have tephramod v7.
"EvoScan uses the ECUFlash rommetadata folder to get the correct XMLs to use for the program. what you need to do in the map tracer window is right click 'panel #3'. Click the first option 'Load ROM...'. find and open your ROM. EvoScan should automatically load the correct XMLs and maps as per the ROM file."

Hmm. Interesting. I will look into that tonight ronaldo9. Thanks for the info. I am sure my rom id is in my rommetadata because ecuflash recognizes it when i read from my ecu. I ran into a problem when i got my car where it would not read because i had to add the Rom to rommetadata. I will look into that tonight though for sure and reply with my rom id also incase that helps

I can't find my rom in ecuflash either. I tried looking for it in the list of cars and it's not in there either. When I look up my car info on ecuflash it's just a tiny window that opens. When I open a different rom in ecuflash it has all the option and a long list of options.
I had this issue after installing 2.9 on my Surface.
All the settings, ECU, cable, etc, are set to Evo X settings. Make sure ALL of your drop-down menus (including the one in the lower right) are set correctly for a CT9A.

My ROM id is 94170715. Just checked on my computer. program files(x86)>openECU>Ecuflash>rommetadata>mitsubishi >evo. My rom id is listed in the list.
cmspaz what menu at the lower right. The one at the lower right on my 2.9 is for dtc scan and clear, which i have stated that I used and it worked before.
