How hard is it finding a lightly modified Evo 8?

Hello, in a few months I plan on buying an evo 8. I've been wanting an Evo for sometime now and I always knew they were hard to find. But it seems as if its nearly impossible to find one lightly modified under 50k mileage. And when you do actually find one that only has a few bolt-ons and a tune, there is always that risk that the owner replaced half of the upgraded parts to the stock parts that he kept. Is it really as hard as it seems finding a clean evo or do you just have to be really patient?

To help narrow things down: I don't care whether I'd be buying one from a dealer or from a private seller. I'm willing to spend around 25k at most. I live in NJ and would travel all the way to Florida if I have to to find one and it'd have to be a 5-speed.
Thank you

50k miles is gonna be tough to find on a car that is a decade old. Your best bet is to just keep searching craigslist and autotrader. There is a car for sale section on here and since you are willing to travel many of them should be within your range. Check that often. That is where i found mine.

Mine only has a Buschur TBE with 24k miles. For the right price I'd consider selling it.

It's not that there aren't a ton out there, but you're going to have to pay more for something that unusual. I see them with something like 13k miles, and stock, around once a month. You may pay close to what it cost new though.

There's your answer right there. Since starting this thread you got 2 people who might be willing to sell their car. The majority of people who actually give a rat's *** about taking care of their cars will be on the forums. The best part about buying a car from a forum user is you can track the user's posts, etc and see what sort of hell they put their car thru. FYI you're prob gonna have to pay out the nose for it. Plan on around 20k or more

I appreciate you guys telling me about your cars but the time I'd be able to possibly buy one would probably be around this fall.

Just be patient, I was searching for a near stock IX MR or SSL package for nearly a year until I found the right one; several were abused or put back to stock and I'm so glad I didn't settle on one of those. I did find some that had several tasteful mods and they were also very clean so that is an option that might not be too bad, I just wanted to start from a blank canvas. GL

not hard, just hard to know if it was previously modified and returned to stock or light mod
