Correct me if I am wrong, but at one time, didn't the Evo have the highest accident rate of any car in North America?

Fast car, relatively inexpensive = bro magnet.

as a % of volume sold I wouldn't be surprised. Just look at how much one is to insure.

Awesome choice for a first car, the only problem with these cars as with most performance cars is that parts are just more expensive. So if you're ok with paying a bit extra for simple things like rotors, pads etc, then go for it.

The fact that insurance is as expensive as it is should tell you something about whether an Evo makes a good first car.

Its not like the auto insurers have it in for any make or model. Their actuaries build the formulas, they plug in the numbers, the purchaser gets sticker shock.

I disagree right there, honestly a honda civic is a great choice for a first car, its something that is not super fast but handles decently and you can learn from that then move up. Can modify it at a reasonable price and the insurance is not expensive either. Evo is not a car for a beginner driver it is fast and if you are unprepared it will kill you, on top of people over estimating their own ability and the ability of AWD thinking thats goign to save them.

My suggestion is start small and work your way up in power, don't jump 2 feet in until your completely sure you can handle the car, ontop of the maintenance and insurance is a killer.

He would most likely be young and inexperienced.

Buy it, go broke trying to maintain it and then wrap it around a tree so the one in my garage keeps going up in value.

In all seriousness, it's not a lambo or anything so you'll be fine.

It's not as cheap as a beater civic and in stock form it has more than enough power to get you into trouble, but I'm pretty sure at your age you don't care or think you're invincible?

Assumptions aside, you can do it, but it's up to you to decide if you're mature enough.

At that age my main concern was 16 to 18 year old girls. Unfortunately 16 to 18 year old girls don't like Evos. They do however like BMWs. So you have two options. Get the cheapest BMW you can find and stuff your glove box with trojans.

Option 2, get a kia, honda, VW, whatever. Pop all the emblems off of it and glue a BMW emblem to it. Those girls don't know cars, they know brands. Stuff that glove box full of trojans.

You're welcome.
HAHAHAHAHA!! ^This^
