Exedy twin disc

Who here has some racing experience with this clutch? I recently installed one in my car and getting used to driving it, but have never raced with one.

Well attempted to race last night to take down a trans am and a G8 but failed horribly, because I found out you cannot just dump the clutch on take off.

So if anyone can give me some pointers and tips on how to get a good solid launch with this clutch I would appreciate it!

Thanks

I completely disagree with you on that one. It feels almost stock and can hold 500ftlbs of torque, awesome clutch.

I wouldn't says exactly like stock but isn't to bad, wasn't hard to adjust my normal driving habits to compensate for the difference, but yes a awesome clutch. I just had no idea you couldn't dump and go from a dig

Bumping a very old thread but...does anyone exedy twin disc clutch make the "seal" noise when starting from a dead stop? I know that's normal, but in my situation, I just had my exedy twin disc clutch installed, with a new OEM TOB, ACT monoloc and Redline transmission fluid, and it DOES NOT make that dying seal noise. I contacted exedy and they say if it isnt making any noises, it may have been installed incorrectly. It drives fine, catches fine, but im still in the break in period, about 80 miles on it out of 500 break in. Here's a video as to what mine sounds like..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35As...fWK6iQ6TID_eHk

Mine doesn't make the noise every time. Depends how much you slip it and how hot it gets.

Maybe I've been driving my twin disc incorrectly..you're supposed to slip/ride the clutch when going from a stop?

Dumping the clutch on a awd car is bad news thats how you break ****. Wow reading owns me sometimes. That dying noise you hear is the slipping of the clutch. Depending as stated above the speed you slip the clutch it will make all kinda weird noises when it breaks in. I know mine sounded like a dying animal til it got some miles on it and use to driving it. My triple is even worse with new discs.

Is it sometimes hard to get out of gear at times? Newly installed exedy twin with new OEM TOB, act monoloc and fresh redline transmission fluid change. I find getting out of 5th gear coasting to a stop requires a bit more effort compared to other gears, shifting up is no problem. It's only getting out of gear when coasting/braking to a complete stop.

You drive it like a regular car unless your drag racing it. I'm not sure what you mean.

In the 10 years I have drove a Exedy twin and now into my triple I have never had an issue going out of gear in any gear. May be you have damaged the shifter tree thats on the trans. Maybe the up and down or the left and right may have gotten banged a little bit and threw everything off. Idk hard to say I would have to personally drive the car to see what your talking about ya know..
