Need help finding a fan control module #1355A126

Hey, group.

Maybe someone out there can help me find a fan control module for my VIII (8). The only one I've been able to find is on ebay for a crazy $250.

I bought one from a seller (AWD motorsports) on Amazon and when it wasn't shipped for more than a week, I emailed the place and they told me it's not in stock (even though they listed it as "in-stock") and they won't be getting any more. Tried to buy one from another online store with pretty much the same results.

I remember something from a while ago about using a fan control module from a different car that would work? Don't remember what car or anything else. If someone knows something about it & if it works, can you please post?

Does anyone know where to get one from someone that's not trying to rip people off? (Side note: as a business person, I understand supply and demand, but $250 for a less-than $100 part is nuts.)

This is my daily driver car & I haven't been able to drive in weeks. Having to bum rides from other people seriously sucks.

Thanks, all.

Well, just to update: I found one from a great place named Spring Loaded. Including the shipping from the UK to the US, it was the same price as the Amazon purchase and it got to my door faster, too (5 days from date of order). Now THAT'S customer service.

Seems like you are making things more difficult than they need to be.

There are about 1100 of them in stock in the US, they are just no longer labeled 1355A126. That part has superseded itself back to the stone age because of all the problems they had with them. Grab a 1355A124 for $80 and call it a day.

Thanks for the reply, I really wish I had known about that a month ago. lol

I've been driving myself crazy trying to find the part, and the only place I could find them were the "we have them in stock -- oh, no, we don't and we'll never be able to get any more because they're not made anymore" people or the criminals overcharging.

Although I thought the 1355A124 wasn't compatible on the 2003 VIII?

If it is, I might pick up an extra in case I have another issue with it in the future.

EDIT: Yup, did more research. 1355A124 is only for the non-Evos, apparently. Evos need 1355A126. Something about the turbos. Oh, well.

Not any more. 126 is no longer serviced, they are all marked as identical now..... if you try to order a 126, you will get a 124.

And actually, if you want to be tricky you can order the old recall part still too, 1355A052 . Its about the same price and is labeled specifically for Evo if it really bothers you. There are about 450 in stock.
I can document that as well if you are unsure.

Weird. The one I received is a 1355A126.

You obviously work in a place with access to parts, so I imagine you know more about this stuff than I do, but if you look at places like Lancer Shop, Amazon, etc., the 1355A052 isn't a replacement for 1355A126. 52 is for the Evo 9 and 26 is for the Evo 8. However, if you look on this forum, some people say it is a replacement. This is why I was so confused.

Really wish you could've seen this thread & posted before I drove myself crazy with it. lol

Also would've been nice if the auto stores that supposedly know the Evos had someone who could've told me that. The price difference between 1355A126 & 1355A052 is really crazy some places, too. $250 vs $85 at mitsubishiparts.net.

Live & learn.

Sorry

I work for Mitsu. The 1355A052 is an internal-only part number for the VIII so you won't find it listed pretty much anywhere. Whenever manufacturers have broad recalls like the fan controller one they will make a new part number for the replacement part that has a much lower price so that their books look better. This is one of those parts.
Same thing happened with the base Lancer exhaust manifolds, they were around $950 at one point if you ordered by part number, if you used the internal part number it was $275

Great bit of info. So if I need to order another one, what would be the best way to do it?

Go to Mentor Mitsubishis site and plug in 1355A052 and order it up. They are the cheapest Mitsubishi site I have found online... often a good 10-15% lower than mitsubishiparts.net everyone loves.
They may call you to verify since it is not a direct look-up for your VIN, they may not. If they do just tell them to reference SC-04-005 for new part information for 03 Evolution (it will fit all years though).
SC-04-005
That link will self destruct.

So I should buy 1355A126 for the Evo 7-8? Thanks

I did order and receive 1355A126 but it was a complete hassle finding one. It's still working great, no problems. That place I mentioned before was the only place that had one. If I have to get another one, I'll get 1355A052 like how superbovine said to do it.
