The oil recommendation sheets is strictly for Journal Bearing Reds and Blacks. Smaller turbos and Ball Bearings do not have the same oil requirements.

Interesting. Now, (in your opinion and getting ever further OT) would Mobil One 4T race bike oil and its high levels of Zn and P be bad for a stock turbo? Or just overkill?

This is just my setup. I used stock lines on my dbb red. And no catch can. Been running for 5k no problems. My personal opinion is that the oil filter housing line supplies to much oil to the bb internals, even though the line has a restrictor built in. I believe it is over compensating the oil supply for what the bb needs. IYW i use Valvoline VR1 10W-30 racing oil. But again just my expierence. I have not had a problem with oil anywhere or my dip stick blowing out or anything of that nature.... Again just my expierence.

Unfortunately we're not oil specialist we just looked at some commonly used oils and tested them for viability in our turbochargers. Then compiled a list of oils we knew would pass our test and work well. So I have no input on that oil on how well it would work with a stock turbocharger or your car.

Surprisingly enough the stock crankcase systems works really well especially if you're still on the stock motor and make less than 500WHP. It tends to get over ran at that point stock engine or not, built motors are typically built looser than a stock motor and therefore have more crankcase pressure off the bat. Without datalogging the crankcase pressure you would never know though and compression tests and leak down tests can only tell you so much.

Michael,

What do you commonly see customers use to data log crankcase pressure? Is there a particular gauge/method you prefer in support of warranty claims?
