help! sloppy suspension on evo 8, feels like a boat

Hey whats going on guys, i am trying to figure out my problem. I literally just got a alignment and the rear end was way off and the front was off too. He got it aligned perfect and now the car drives straight in normal driving and straight in WOT. I did nothing but research and still couldnt find someone who had the same problem as me, maybe someone will post on this thread. I got the car aligned and everything is in spec-- toe, caster, and camber are all good, but everytime i hit a bump or when i am on a bumpy road, the car feels sloppy, it feels like a boat or like driving a old cadillac around town. I have read nothing but bad things on the tein s-tech springs and the bilsteins on which i have on the car now, they probaly have been on the car for 2 years now. I have not seen any uneven tire wear or any leaks or clunk noises on the suspension though b4 i got the alignment done. Could it be the tein s techs and bilsteins? If anyone had this problem before, any input is much appreciated.

Has it always been like this or is this a new development?

Always been like this, bought the car 7 months ago and decided to post a thread on it, I am also thinking I have worn out rear control arm bushings but don't really want to start buying parts if it isn't going to fix the problem that's y I am wondering if anyone else had this problem

Lots of views... No suggestions??? I am thinking the shocks are blown because of the tein s tech springs but could also think worn bushings are blown

Sounds like you bilsteins are blown. Look for feathering/ scalloped tires. That's a dead give away for blown shocks.

How many miles on the chassis? What kind of weather conditions has it seen regularly?

Without answers to the above questions to help narrow things down, I would take a flyer and say just to throw the entire Energy Suspension bushing kit on the car.

I am thinking they are blown but their was no uneven tire wear at all.

Their is 98,000 miles on the chassis. Just seen hot weather, and now it's lowering down to 50 degrees over here. I am thinking about changing the shocks and springs out. The car drives straight normal driving and also on the highway, it's just when u hit a bump at a high speed around 45-60 mph, that's when the suspension feels sloppy and like a boat

Check your ball joints and all related suspension components in the front (make sure everything is torqued down to spec, check for sloppiness and tares in the oem rubber bushings etc..) and check your top hats as well.

I would jack up the car and check play in the steering tie rods. Also, could be a broken or sway bar end link. Could be bad bushings on the sway bars... either front or rear. Also check play in spherical bushings in control arms. My vote is on bad steering tie rods... It will align OK but drive horribly.

By "drives like a Cadillac" do you mean that, when you go over a bump, the car continues to go up and down? Or do you get movement from side to side? Does the car shimmy in corners, or is it only over bumps?

If only over bumps, then it'll probably be your shocks.

If the car shimmys side to side and you feel it in the corners, then you should check the sway bars, ball joints, tie rods.

Hopefully, that'll help you narrow down the cause. Good luck.
