Hey guys…..this morning I saw my hood was propped open and quickly looked inside….my MAF and intake were stolen…..

I was wondering if the MAF you buy from AUTOZONE is the same as the OEM one…I have the part number if someone could look it up…

Part number= 74-60025

I also have some sort of aftermarket cams and was wondering if I have to get retuned because they took the MAF and the intake…

Also do evo8 go into limp mode? I ask because I had to throw a cone filter I had laying around on and drive the evo today….

How will I hook the MAF up to a intake if its a circle to a square (dumb I know)

Your going to need a Mitsubishi MAF, not a chinese knock off from Autozone. At this point, you might want to think SD, you wouldn't have to get the UICP or a IAT right away, you can use what you have, just need a new intake (about same price as a MAF). Since you wouldn't need a UICP right away, you could get a 12ga.

 

i have an OEM maf i could let go for real cheap. PM me and we can work something out. it sucks that people cant just leave crap alone.

 

why can't I run the MAF from auto zone?……and I need to drive my EVO is it safe to drive it without the MAF?

 

It's not going to run right, if at all, without the MAF unless you get it retuned on speed density.

 

what is Speed density?? and how soon do I have to get it tuned??

do not attempt to drive your car without a MAF or a new Speed Density tune.

Speed density is a different method of measuring intake air and tuning. It is the preferred high-power method around here. Everything you need to know you can look up on this site.

but don't play around with driving without a dialed intake and tune unless you really want to buy a new motor.

 

OP, just pick up a used OEM Maf from a member like Cadmonkey.

Do not run out and get a speed density tune on a whim. Only a handful of evo tuners are truly proficient with tuning speed density.

 

Lol i Have Bad Dreams Similar to this , but they sometimes involve the t-case being stolen lol.

check ebay for Used maf sensor or the Clasifieds around here or maybe a MAP sensor tune?
