From: Why do they always call the Evo the Dark Side?
Update: thanks for the help guys.
After much research I have changed my mind about the cams.
I have finalized my list to:
Buscher TBE w/ test pipe and magnaflow
Amsoil open filter
licp
Ets 3.5 intercooler
Gsc s2 cams
Walbro 255lph

Rule of thumb, on pump gas, is desired whp/2 = injector cc. You will want something over 700cc. For e85 I add 30%.
Agreed, I'd do s1s over s2s for your HP goals if you plan to drive on the street a lot. I also second the injectors, you'd be running the stock ones at 90-100% duty cycle for 350whp (ask me how I know haha).
Consider a down pipe for the exhaust, could add a wideband to it at install to be safe.
What plans for boost control? I'd recommend the $35 gm 3port
If you decide to get rid of the stock intake box and rubber tube I'll buy them btw.

I thought there were little to no issues with s2 cams on the 9s.
i don't think there is an issue on any of the cars, but they are aggressive. they are just a bit of overkill for 350whp. the S1 will be torquier and feel more responsive plus they are a lot easier on the valvetrain. with your goal, the S2s wouldn't really be taken advantage of.
in my opinion, no sense in shifting the powerband so far to the right if you don't need to and bigger isn't always better.
i'm sure you would be happy either way you went, though.

how would a stock evo make 277 whp, considering they're rated at 287 at the crank? sounds likea very optimistic dyno. i also just had my bone stock 26k mile 06 evo9 dynod [at works, dynapack] and it made ~235 at the wheels over 4 or 5 pulls after new plugs and airfilter on fresh m1 10-30. that maths out right on the rated chp numbers if you factor 18% loss [which is pretty efficient for awd]. that was also at about sea level and cold - 50* or so ambient.

Either cam will get you 350whp, but the S1 will make it sooner and while adding a lot of torque and mid-range power.
