i didn't see a post saying the S2 made more power and torque than the S1 from 2500rpm to redline, but i just skimmed it as i have to go pick up my son. i'll check it out later. thanks for the link!

While in that thread John Bradley stated that there was no loss on GSC S2 vs GSC S1 only more power up top he also somewhere suggested that S1 may be preferable for road racing vs. drag racing due to potentially better transient response. But no hard numbers.

The question remains what is preferable for an application where max horsepower is not necessarily wanted or desired, eg 6-speed. Fuel consumption differences in daily driving? Given that small tank, range is actually an issue ...

Continuing to sit on the fence which means my stock cams are still in the car ....

Since there seems to be some disagreement here on which would be better for my setup, let me ask this; since s1s and s2s produce different power at different times, which would end up giving me a better quarter mile time and which would give me a better time attack time? Assuming im sticking with the stock springs and retainers if i use s1s meaning i wont be increasing the rev limit. And yes I will be sticking with a stock turbo as far as I know now.

Also, I keep hearing that there is no loss of spool with the s2s over stock, but the spool is better on the s1s correct?

this whole time we've been recommending the S1, it's been with the assumption you are shooting for 350whp. has that changed? if not, the S1 will be quicker all the way around be it 1/4mi or TA. 350whp is 350whp. if you have decided you want as much power as possible, you will definitely want the S2. also, more peak WHP = quicker 1/4mi times. for example: my car isn't the fastest at the drag strip, but does very well at AutoCross and on a road course. i'm okay with that.
if we're assuming you are sticking with the stock valvetrain, you are pretty much limited to the S1. everything i've read says the S2 needs upgraded valve springs.
as for the stock turbo, there is a thread somewhere on big cams/stock turbo. i don't remember it being a bad thing.

Well yes that is my goal and if combining the parts I listed before will get me there, along with s1s then I will be satisfied. I was worried though when my tuner said I should just stick with stock cams if I wanted the s1s. I definitely want cams though. I would be willing to upgrade the valvetrain if the s2s are the right way to go for MY goals.

if you can make 350whp on stock cams with the rest of your mods, that is going to be easiest, though. i'm unfamiliar with 93oct, but your tuner is. if you decided to go with S1s anyway, you will make a LOT more torque. if you don't need the extra tq, then stock is probably best.
again, this is just my $.02 (and we all have our own opinions) but the S2 is overkill for your goals.

the s1s would be an improvement or same over the ENTIRE curve over stock cams correct? If so I will just go with those.

you would need to research, but from what i can remember they are better in every way with stock-like spool. but i'd look it up to be sure LOL.
if you buy them and don't like 'em, i'll buy them from you LOL. i'm looking for S1s at the moment.

350 is definitely my goal as well. I have most of the mods necessary except for a fuel pump and injectors. Is a FMIC really necessary for anything under 400 whp?

It will be good so you can run more boost without knock. also, a little turbo pushing lots of boost can heatsoak the stocker ic pretty fast.
