Hi all,
So this is my first CT9A chassis, i'm excited, BUT... she needs some work. Not like modding, but like fixing. The Evo is stock minus an intake and exhaust. 140k on chassis, motor was just rebuilt with OEM parts 500 miles ago.
Below is a list of stuff that I found mechanically wrong, was hoping you gurus could help me find some insight as how to fix it all:
-There is a whine in first gear up to 3000 RPMs, and second up to 2500RPMs (is this transmission or tcase? there is no whine if i press in the clutch or roll in neutral)
-5th gear is sketchy to get in if i dont double clutch and rev match
-All three ACD lights are on after like 2 minutes of driving
-Evo smells like gear oil after I come to a stop
-Small t-case fluid leak coming from the front *passenger* side axle seal
-Small oil leak at the oil lines at the oil filter, directly before and after the filter exchange piece thing
-No flywheel cover plate
Which of these must I take care of first? solutions to each?
Thanks!

First gear is wine is normal.
It sounds like to me you may want to get in contact with Shep Or TRE and look in to a rebuild.
If not for sure Change out the Trans tc and rear diff Fluid To start, but it sounds like your 5 Gear Synchro are on the way out

Yes. 1st gear straight cut could make that noise.Originally Posted by Evolution Z

About the smell - Didn't you say your transfer case is leaking? And the case sits directly on top of the hot exhaust pipe...

Flywheel cover plate? you mean the plate between the trans and block? you need that in there, ASAP.
Gear whine is normal. The difficulty getting into 5th is not. Could be the missing block plate. Could need a tranny rebuild.
The front driver side axle seal does not retain tcase fluid, it retains trans fluid.
The oil leak; sounds like you need oil cooler lines...

so the same type of fluid that goes into the trans, goes into the tcase as well?Originally Posted by letsgetthisdone

oil cooler lines, noted
why is the starter plate so imperative?

The driver side front axle goes into the trans, not the tcase. The trans and tcase definitely use different fluid.
Starter plate is imperative because it gives the proper clearance for the throw out bearing. And it properly aligns the starter with the flywheel..
there-in lies my confusion. I miss typed for some reason... I meant front passenger side axle, idk why I typed out driver side lol
