boost leak test compresor leaking
I'm trying to do a boost leak test, but my turbo is leaking from the cold side behind the cover. i can't build barely any psi on it at all.
i read through a thread and saw this
its a few years old thread, but does this still apply? its a brand new turbo and only been started up and moved around never even driven. I'm prepping the car for a tune and this is the last step i have to do beside fix my oil pan leak
any help greatly appreciated
the turbo is a fp hta 86

- Run your finger along the backside of the turbo compressor cover. If you feel a jet of air, from either the cover seam or at the head of a cover bolt, be prepared to remove the compressor cover and reaffix with a bead of gasket sealer (e.g. Permatex gray). This is a common problem with newer Garrett turbo covers.

any help greatly appreciated

Yeah its normal. If you get a garret based turbo from FP you should do a small bead of RTV. Someday they may come with an o-ring built in. Until then, clicking the turbo is a pain in the butt...
