Is there a fix for the 1-2 shift yet?

I was just curious if anyone has found a cure for the infamous grind going from 1st to 2nd gear? I'm thinking of purchasing another Evo but I'm still a little concerned over that. This is of course when speedshifting. Normal shifting brings no problems.

i also didn't know about this infamous 1st to 2nd grind was going down .maybe you should push the pedal in before you shift .anyways try some bushing upgrades first before you get all trade-in crazy .

There was some discussion about this a couple of weeks ago. Apparently there's some sort of underhood bushing kit that really smoothes out the shift.

hehe well I was a really early bird in getting an Evo. Like one of the first in San Diego county. It's been quite awhile since then. Many, I mean MANY people experienced a grind going from 1st to 2nd when speed shifting near redline. Mostly those of us who have visited a drag strip. It's an issue with the synchros not lining up in time. Basically meant waiting a second or more before pulling it all the way in which killed 1/4 mi. times. Dealership won't do anything about it. I was hoping for a new tranny to at least SEE if that would help. Like maybe I had a dog but no go. Doesn't matter so much for the autocross trips but the 1/4 mi. it kills.

Duuude, Evilution it's great to see you again, man I followed your words of wisdom and went the BG Syncroshift route and haven't experienced it once since then. Great to hear that you're looking to get another Evo. By the way thank you again for the hook up with your old B&M shifter this summer, I simply adore it.

Hey Mitsuorder glad to be remembered. Good to hear that you like the shifter. I had a great day at the autocross today and really miss my Evo.

Mine still does it unless you spend 100% of your concentration on shifting and do it exactly perfect (you actually have to push the clutch pedal through the firewall, I think I have dent there now, LOL!!). Even then, it still does it 25% of the time. Anyway, I'd like to hear more about this bushing kit.

I would recomend the bushing kit. I was having trouble with the 1-2 shift towards redline also and once I put the bushing kit on there it smoothed it out much better. Every now and then I will miss second but much less frequintly then before.

If it's that bad of a problem, start a petition online. Clubrsx.com had everyone sign a petition for a 5th gear grind to get Acura's attention, so why don't we?

i can understand better fluids, but how will a bushing kit help the syncros line up faster?

I won't help with the synchros (obviously). However, at least part of the notchiness is due to the shift linkage itself. This is something you can correct fairly cheaply and easily, so why not give it a try?
