Thread Locker Strips Bolt?
Thread Locker Strips Bolt?
Was reinstalling the nuts for the seat and decided to use a little loctite on the nut before reinstalling it to the front seat bolt - it's the same nut that was on it before but a class 10 metal nut (not stock acorn looking nut), and used a little bit of loctite blue thread locker. As I tightened it down, it got a bit hot and then it seems to have stripped. I did not use a lot of force at all, and regardless the seat nuts/bolts can take a lot.
It is thoroughly locked in place, won't come off or go any tighter, which it's tightened down anyway...
Has this happened to anyone else? Used an impact, it won't come off. Not sure what happened but I gave it a little testing rocking back and forth and it seems totally stuck on there, but still spins in either direction...
It seems to have reacted somehow, not sure if the nut or the screw is stripped but something is definitely stripped, and it didn't come anywhere near stripping before when I had it on

will it hold? i can worry aobut taking it off when i get there as long as it's going to safely hold
thanks for the input - so nothing is STRIPPED then? or it's all stripped?
as long as it holds, im good. as far as removing it, i'll cross that bridge when i get there. I've never had to remove the seat on my old evo, have been taking this one on and off a million times but it's done now.

Galled usually means the fasteners were of 2 different materials. The harder material ruined the threads on the softer material, and they are now stuck together. This routinely happens with the stainless bolts/studs Mitsubishi uses on the hot side of the turbo, they gall and get stuck in the housing. It's a little different then stripped, but both fasteners are ruined..
