They did the same thing with the Galant VR-4 (which I wanted), and that is why they released the EVO. If mitsu does replace the EVO with somthing else (smaller more purpose built) in the WRC, I will probaly like it a lot. But the new EVOs I think are too big, too heavy, with too many gimmick techno features.

I wanna do the Olsens.

the reason the Evo7 hasn't been as successful as the Evo6 is cause Mitsubishi's drivers suck right now. the Evo7 has been VERY successful in SCCA pro rally for as few cars have participated: http://www.scca.org/
wait till they get some new talent and a new sponsor.

Second, the rumor about the car making more power then it is rated is just that a rumor. I have seen articles that say somthing like "the car dynoed at 310HP with almost no mods, so it must have started with more then 280HP." Well a statment like that is just a guess. Until somebody buys a car off the lot and engine dynos it I wont beleave the "it makes 20-30hp more then it's rated" rumor.
WRONG....ALL I repeat ALL Japanese cars here have max PS rating of 280..it's a law. That includes GTR, SUPRA, NSX and the EVO. On side note don't confuse PS(measurement we use) to BHP (the measurement the US uses) PEACE

Well, it's a beaurocratic agreement, more precisely. And tuners can break that agreement - witness the Nismo 400R GT-R with 400ps, or the STi S202 with 320ps.

However, dyno testing has shown that the GT-R, Evo, and STi do indeed make in excess of 276hp, but it's not a large amount over. It's usually around 310-320ps. Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay has a dyno, and they publish the results of the cars brought in.

BTW, 1ps = .98hp. So 280ps = 276hp. It's close enough to ballpark, anyways.

Oh, and remember, even the dyno's are not 100% accurate - there are differences between dyno's, unless you are going whole hog and hooking then engine up to a proper dyno.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

YEA..I forgot to mention tuners as exceptions...I should of said all car manufacturers Thanks for correction.....
PS I can't stand AUTOBACHS..they came down here last for a car show and free dyno (power check) I waited almost entire day for my turn...only to have them say "NO" because my car had illegal mods on it (I no cat) plus the store are all over-priced...good selection but the prices are ridiculous

Shiro - thanks for that great info
like wise Ishi. I was not sure what the difference between the 280 and 276 was before this!
What does ps stand for?

PS is German for "pferdestaerke", which means... horsepower...
BTW, Paul, have you heard anything more about the possibility of Japan abandoning the "280PS agreement"?

I don't even know why you guys let that Mary-Kate Olsen guy post on here. He went around claiming he was a little 15 year old girl on here for a lonnnnnnnng time getting in fights with everyone who didn't believe him. Then he claims he gets a supra and his real identity was revealed on supraforums.com, and he is infact a man. Kinda weird/sick if you ask me.

I have seen the pervious artice on autoweek stating that it should be close to the Jspec 276 hp. Can't seem to find the "252hp" article. I seriously hope its not only 252
The car will be rated at 265 hp for the US spec vehicle. They are working on the 0-60 times still but their goal is under 5 seconds.

BTW - Just in case anyone is interested the actually horsepower the engine and turbo produces in the Japan spec EVO VII is 225. The 285 hp is achieved strictly with software through the ECU.

My real identity was never revealed. I never pretended to be Mary-Kate on Supraforums. I only did that here as a joke. And I told the truth to anybody who asked me politely if I was the real Mary-Kate.

You might not have thought it was funny but I did, and other people PMed me and said they thought it was funny as well.

And yes I did buy a Supra because I got tired of waiting for the EVO to come out here. I don't understand why people get so angry just because I like cars and also like Mary-Kate (it is possible to like two things at the same time).

I really think we just all need to take things like this a little less serious. I mean, isn't their more things in your life that are far more important then this?
