For houses: realtor.ca

In terms of places to live, for car scene its hard to deal with all the legal and emissions BS in Ontario if you have a highly modified car. Otherwise its good for the culture. You're realistically alright anywhere in southern ontario, Toronto is very expensive to live in right now for many reasons.

Otherwise Montreal / QC is great for the people and lifestyle if you speak French. Car scene is alright, although not a lot of people have that much money to spend on it. They do have more tracks than the other provinces.

BC is amazing for lifestyle but car scene is a bit flat and theres only 1 track. Jobs are very difficult in Vancouver as is living cost.

Alberta is great for jobs and living costs and there is a large scene here because of all the cash (richest province / oil province) but not much of a track / racing scene unless you like drag racing. Culture / lifestyle is alright, its not as enriched as the other places though. Weather sucks hard.

In the end it will depend mostly on what you do for a living I think.

There is a topic on what it takes to get a US car in Canada legally but essentially it involves getting a letter from MMUSA saying it has all the emissions controls at a minimum......kinda fuzzy after that (I looked into moving back. I was born and raised in Toronto).

I'm biased. Toronto is New York expensive to live in right now which is the main reason I havent moved back. There are people living in towns and commuting as far as Hamilton these days which is crazy to me.

BUT.

I wouldn't live anywhere else. Except maybe Vancouver (and its even more expensive to live there). Good luck.

PS look in the Canadian forum for info on importing Evo's.

Getting an Evo from Canada TO the states is easy, I did it a week ago.
Got the impression that going the other direction is similarly easy, just with the possible addition of needing DRLs.
Good luck!

Importing usdm ct9as into Canada has been pretty easy since September 2008. Bill of sale, RIV fee, pay the tax, RIV inspection, maybe emissions depending on province. Importing a ukdm ct9a will probably not be worth it.

You can land a car from Japan to Canada in the range of $3k. Should be less to get cars in from the UK.

I'd rather live in New York than Toronto at this point. I also grew up there, but its changed now. Way too busy, traffic is actually worse than nyc!! You have 3 taxes to pay to buy property. And there's California style emissions laws. There are roaming etest trucks to enforce it. Meanwhile I live now in the Texas of Canada and its about as modded car friendly as can be.

One thing awesome about Canada is the 15yr car rule. R32 gtrs are throw away tin cans that people are now cashing in on by selling to 'murica. R33 gtrs are dece for DD. And r34 gtrs were last years hot things. Evo I to VI are trading hands for less than 10k. Jdm mkiv supras and fd3s have been here forever and are miles cheaper than the LHD versions. By october this year we get to import jdm v7 stis. And next year we get to import Jdm evo VIIs. Which will be important to scavenge parts from for the usdm VIII/IX owners (ie.me).

Lived in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) for my whole life. Honestly houses/apartments in Toronto are expensive + Down town traffic is pretty bad. There's a great car scene here in Markham though. I see EVO's every single day honestly. Move somewhere in the GTA if anything, Markham,Mississauga,Scarborough,Richmond Hill, new market, etc. Markham rep

A CT9A is only easy when it is USDM model. This does not apply to a UK or JDM model.

Everything else falls under the 15-year rule and there are some moves afoot again to ban RHD vehicles from being admitted and registered in BC.

Depends on the grade at auction and trim level / year / mileage / mods. If you do the dirty work of finding them at auction and having someone you know there bid on them then its going to be cheaper than having one of the jdm importers handle all that for you. Shipping cost is 3k usually and takes 6 weeks or so. My friend who imported a low grade 1999 gtr non-vspec last summer paid 50k cdn landed. Another guy imported a high grade 2000 vspec mines tuned one for 70k. The ones already landed and registered are trading hands for 60k on average. R34 gtrs are rare cars in general. Only 3 years of production at low numbers. So they're still expensive.

Importing parts from Japan is actually not hard or expensive even with air shipping. Both for maintenance and for mods. But the engine and transmission are super expensive if they fail.

This would be considered a high quality example.
