Hello all, i just got back in the evo game. I got a 2004 evo 8 SSL. for the most part fully bolted with kelford 272 cams. Onto my issue, put simply the car does not like to idle. it will dip down to 500 rpm barely run sometimes catch itself or shut off. the AFR's are rich (10-12) I've had my tuner throw everything at it and nothing seems to work. I pulled out the IAC last night and it is operating fine. I then did the how to on the multimeter for the TPS the first part passed, the second part did not. I then started the car and unplugged the TPS and nothing happens. I have one on the way but any other ideas to as why my car wont idle on its own. any help is appreciated. Thanks!

 

huge boost/vac leak.

 

Lots of threads on similar idle issues, try adding timing from 800-1500 and that should stop it from dropping to the 500rpm range and settle it down--. How about a boost leak test? Cam timing settings?

 

havent checked boost leak yet. It holds 26psi all day. So far we'v checked the map sensor, TPS sensor, timing, Spark plugs and no bueno. Im sending logs to aaron at english racing today in hope of some answers. In the mean time ill be installing the map dump/ down pipe, ets catback, and ets licp.
