Rusted tag lights mount

So i had to replace the rear license plate lights for MD state inspection. I went to unscrew the plastic covers and both mounts rusted and fell apart. i"ll post some pics soon

Any ideas for solving the problem?

Yes. Replace the parts that are rusted/damaged.

how insightful. thanks. took off the oem light and rewired an led and mounted it, problem solved
