All you know there's a bolt in the back of the pedal. Have you physically laid on your back in the foot well with the flash light in hand and wrench in another?

If it's ok with you that clutch grabs from the middle I don't see a problem. Usually most of us prefer 1/2-3/4" free play.

Per TRE....

Recently it came to my attention that there are quite a number of drivers who believe their clutch foot should start engaging the clutch before they've completed the shift into a gear. WRONG.

I haven't a clue as to where people came up with that idea but it is not the correct way to shift a manual transmission and you better damn well understand that your clutch has to be fully disengaged when you cross over the neutral gate and that you don’t start engaging the clutch until the transmission is fully into gear.

Think about gun slinging for a moment… You don’t pull the trigger until you have your gun out of the holster and the barrel aimed at the target or you’re going to miss and end up shooting at the dirt.

So to be safe I would just press the clutch pedal all the way down..

I was always taught the proper way to adjust the clutch pedal in an evo is as follows.

In a running car, push the clutch pedal all the way in, and push the gas pedal to bring the rpm's up to 6500-7000. If the car moves at all then the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted higher meaning the clutch would engage further away from the floor board.

And if the car doesn't roll forward or move, then you can engage it so it engages closer to the floor board, but once the car moves at its closest point to the floor board possible, then you can back it up just a tad and be all set.

Really what kind of RETARD would free rev their car to 7K?

That would be CLASSIC if it just shot forward!!!!!
