Evo 9 Steering rack clunk??
Evo 9 Steering rack clunk??
So with my key to the on position, unlocking the steering wheel, I turn my wheel slightly to the right and let go....I hear a clunk. Almost as if it is coming from the rack itself. When I turn it to the left, the noise does not happen. After I start the car, I can no longer hear or feel this due to the pump kicking on. Question is, should I replace or rebuild the rack? Or does it even need it? Thoughts and comments are welcome.
Car has 123k miles on it and I know its time to replace tie rod ends, ball joints, and wheel bearings...all of which have been ordered. Just wondering if it would be wise to do the steering rack as well.
OEMs go for over 1k... Yuck. So chances are I will have to find a reman. Thoughts on online places to order is welcome as well.
