AEM Infinity in the engine compartment :)
AEM Infinity in the engine compartment :)
So I wanted to get rid of even more wires from the evo, and boy did it.
I also ditched all the HVAC stuff, and relocated the ACD Pump to the trunk. I also moved the battery to the trunk and converted to solid state relays and PWM control for the fuel pumps. I am at the final steps this week, just testing the full harness and then I can start to wrap everything up and get the car back on the streets.
I pulled the full harness out of the evo, from the tail lights all the way to the headlights. I even dropped the gas take to redo that harness. So it is a complete car rewire.
I still need to fab all the power wires and the ECU mounting bracket, and then assemble everything and to a bench test on the jack stands
Here are the pics

Not sure I would put that in the engine bay without an additional type of water protection. I have a similar controller on my 6l80 transmission for my 03 sierra . It didnt come with a 6l80 obviously but the controller connector looks just like that it got soaked in a torrential downpour (I have it on the firewall above the ac lines) and I had to get it towed home. Next day was sunny it dried out and has ran fine ever since. Those connectors are water resistant not water proof fyi.
The connectors are fully sealed. Weather resistant.

I am not planning on driving the evo into the ocean
.
I get what you are saying, but if you look at a lot of newer cars they have all sorts of ecu's in the engine compartment. The evo X has the ecu all up in there and not protected. So if it is good enough for Mitsubishi then I should be fine.
Evo X ecu as ref.

I will have some more pics up this weekend. Bench test all passed, hell even the radio still works
. Now I just need to test the fuel pumps and the ACD system then I can start to wrap everything up. I ran about 500 bucks worth of tefzel wire in this thing and removed more crap than I can count. Tons of relays, spliced wires, distribution blocks, and fuses. Also the engine harness is not tied to the front fuse/relay box. I also removed the little side saddle relay box, tons of crap in there I don't care about. It looks like I stripped about 10lbs of wire out, but I would guess that I put at least that much back in with all the tefzel wire. So I think I did not gain or loose anything, but damn the harness is much cleaner now, and it only has circuits in there that are really being used.
I must have like 100 pages of circuit diagrams printed out. I traced everything.
I just stuffed the battery in the trunk, in the temp position, and mounted the ACD pump. Time to wire up the relays and finish the wiring on the gas tank. I should be starting the engine on Friday or over the weekend.
