VIII/IX turbo feed line I.D.?

I've been searching off and on and can't find the info.. but I'm sure it's on this site somewhere. I'm making an #an line for my oil feed (tired of buying copper crush wasthers) and need to know what the I.D. of the OEM oil feed is. Does anyone know?

I think their line flows more oil, for the red and black turbos. I'm not sure the larger line will would work properly sourcing oil from the head.

Are you putting the FP54 on your car? If you are, I'm pretty sure you're going to need the FP OFH oil feed line.

Yes, sir! I don't remember the guy's name I talked to, but he recommended a heavier oil, but said not to worry about the line. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that I wouldn't be interested in the turbo if it required an extra $250 for an oil line. LOL
On the bright side, I can make my own for $50, so may as well.

I installed the MAP OFH feed line when I installed the BBK full. I like the inline filter and constant pressure to the turbo. I did this after having a leak from the feed off the head and couldn't source the washers lol.

The washers are cheap but hard to find where I live, for some reason. I'd rather not have to have a car that is down until I can find replacements LOL.
I was hoping to keep the source at the head because it's so easy to reach, but eh well.

I'm looking at the FP inline filter, and it says the orifice is .125 inches. Now if I'm reading that right, that's 1/8 inch which is only #2AN? Which leads me to wonder why they use a #4AN line. And if I were to run the line without the filter/restrictor, I guess I would run a #2AN line? #3AN? LOL
I suppose I will go ahead and order their filter housing and filter for the journal bearing turbo. Adding that cost to making my own line, with fittings, comes out $100. That's a heck of a lot better than $250.

If you are buying an FP turbo, you should ask FP what they recommend. I think their line is designed to work with all their turbos by changing the size of the filter/orifice.

The guy i talked to said it's not needed for the Green and to just use a heavier oil such as 20w50, etc. Their website supports that by mentioning the line is needed for the Red and Black. However... FP isn't so great at updating their site (LOL) and now that the Green flows about as much as the old Red, I'd suspect it has similar demands.
So, I'm going to order their filter & housing and build the rest myself. $100 > $250. If it weren't for the fact that I already have some of the parts needed to make the line, i'd do the MAP kit, for sure. That's a heck of a deal.

Good luck! Look at FP's site just for instructions on how to install the line. It took me quite a bit of heat to loosen up the plug on the filter housing. Don't strip that plug! lol

They use a 4an line because the line and fittings are readily available and less fragile, and easier to work with because it's a bit bigger.

Makes sense. Considering the heat, vibration, etc.

The install is straight forward. The plugs in my OFH came right out. I was surprised after hearing the horror stories LOL
