head noise ?

Every time I do an oil change I get loud lifter tick. But when the oil breaks down or 2k miles after it quiets down. Lol if somebody has the answer to this your a god. I change the lifters with itm and bled them good before anything. Oh and I'm runing royal purple xrp 10w40 oem oil filter

Seems odd that after 2k miles the noise quiets down. The fact that youve been into the head notes that there could be a mechanical issue going on.

Wonder if you changed back to OEM spec oil 10w/30 if that would change this tick?

If not, might be time to pull the valve cover or have an EVO shop diagnose. Anyway, Just trying to help you along the thinking process

Thanks for the reply. And yes I change to itm as I was told it could be lifter problem but again I get the same tick with new oil. I had 10w30 royal purple before and now I have 10w40 Xrp Royal purple. I might just say heck with it and just change to mobile 1 like I was doing before with another Evo I had.

I listened to the sound clip. First off, I am no mechanical expert when it comes to the EVO head. The 4G63 certainly makes a lot of mechanical noises at idle

I like your thought of changing back to OEM spec weight oil. Try that first & if it continues, it might be time to either pull the valve cover & look for some obvious issues or take it in to a EVO mechanic

If the oil is the correct weight, lifters are bled, everything under the cover appears fine and its running fine I'd say your in good shape. These cars are quite noisy, when I first got my evo I had to constantly ask other evo owners to listen to my drivetrain because I always felt it was to loud but got the "nope its normal noise" response.
