Any help is appriciated, no start, fuel pump not priming after head re build

well here we go, i started this 8 months ago and it has taken way longer and cost way more than i had expected. I pulled the head to have it re built and do the head gasket/timing belt/ ect. while i was doing that i replaced the crank sensor with a brand new oem one while i was in there. Got everything back together and went to start it and now the fuel pump will not prime and it immediately throws a p0335 code for the crank sensor. It had that code in the computer before i did the head which is why i replaced it when i was in there. anyone have any ideas? any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Fuel pump doesn't run unless the engine is spinning.

Did you use an OEM sensor?

Was the trigger plate installed correctly? It's possible for them to go on backwards.

Is all of the wiring for the crank sensor in good condition? Check continuity all the way to the ECU.

trigger plate was inspected but never removed, power and ground both tested at the sensor and at the ecu was good.

is your cam sensor ok also? your fuel pump should prime when key is on engine off for a few seconds. you might want to check a common problem that some have with the key ignition. the white plastic piece that is on the key ignition with one screw. you have to take off some trim panels on the column and inspect it. may be worth a look at. sometimes the plastic piece moves and has to be readjusted. I hope this helps. on the code issue you have you need a scantool to see if your getting a signal from the crank and cam signal for starts. after that you need a dvom and check power and grounds. I also use labscopes to see the waveforms of the sensors and compare to spec. good luck.

i will have to pull the column cover and check to make sure that it is not an ignition switch issue. i tried putting a new cam sensor in and it gave me the same results. like i said earlier there was a crank sensor code so i tore everything back apart and put another brand new oem mits crank sensor in and nothing changed. I checked all of the grounds and they are all good and the crank sensor signal is getting all the way to the ecu when i check the volts from the wires at the ecu and the sensor. I attached a log of the car trying to start, like i said it cranks all day but wont turn over.

Was the cam position sensor also replaced?

If so you may have gotten incorrect part #.

I had this happen to me a few months back on a buddies car. Kept setting cam crank codes. Tried Installing new crank sensor same ****. Ended up putting on my cam sensor and it fired right up. Ended up calling mitsu parts and all of a sudden they told me there is another p#.

The pump won't prime if there is a problem with the crank sensor. It's plugged in, right?

I will have to check the part number and order one from mits and let you know if that works

New cam sensor from mits installed with no change. One wierd thing I noticed while cranking after installing the new cam sensor is that the mph gauge is fluctuating while I crank the engine and even getting up to about 40 mph?

Maybe do some wiring checks. Somehow, maybe, the cam or crank sensor signal is getting onto the speed sensor.

The speed sensor on the trans is responsible for the speedo moving. Is there a way to swap those plugs? They should be completely different.

Those two plugs are completely different and the trans sensor plug was never removed
