I apologize for bringing this thread back, but rather than starting a new thread, I figured i'd ask.. can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 gaskets from advanced? they both say they fit my evo 9, but they have different parts #s. want to make sure i get the correct one.
I wouldn't buy anything but Oem, I have brand new Oem gaskets for the evo 9, both valve gasket and spark wells gaskets, that I can ship out right away, if interested let me know

Just from reading the details, it appears the sealant gets applied directly to the valve cover, in those areas, then the gasket is to placed before the sealant hardens. So, Yes, looks like Mitsu wanted double protection in those areas

so front and back into the valve cover, and then those 6 spots? then gasket, then put it on the car

Keep in mind, i have not personally done this. To me, it looks like the sealant goes on the 6 spots only & then install the gasket prior to the sealant hardening. I wouldnt be surprised if most members dont even install the sealant
For what its worth I only used Mitsubond on the 1/2 moon insert in the head. Did not use any on the valve cover at all and with all new rubber gasket and the 4 rubber plug inserts it does not leak at all.

Yep, that what i figured some of us were doing. The OEM is always looking for the optimum in prevention to reduce warranties. I would still follow the manual for that added protection
right that's why i was confused, some people say just those six spots/a few spots, and the image above, with the asterisk of TSB Revision, includes some at the front and back of the valve cover...
