I think its a US-market Evo - because the walkaround video shows a bump in the JDM bumper where the US-market crash bar is, I think you had to remove that to fit the JDM bumper properly.

However as all Evos were made in Japan, there is that possibility your seller got hold of a LHD production car that was destined for Europe. I guess you have to decide for yourself how likely that is, though.

yeah im thinking the same that it in not actually an import. never the less it is still a wicked car, do you think the price is justified for the car as a US model?

They go between 15-25 grand here depending on mileage and condition. So that price isn't terrible. I would try to bring him down at least a grand as it needs a full refresher in terms of maintenance. If the rust doesn't bug you and you like the car I think it's an okay deal.

This guy wants 24.5 grand: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/h...m_source=other

This guy wants 17 grand: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-autos-camions...n-8/1176257253

This guy wants 25 grand: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/c...005/1170664864

Some price points so you have an idea. Also I found the ad for your car. Said he is the third owner, second owner imported it from the USA so it is an American car.

Since that's an Evo 9 with apparently low km's, that's a good price. Obviously try to get him down more if you can, but you won't be over paying if he sticks to his guns. To be honest though something sounds fishy with this car. low km's, not a RHD but claimed it was from Japan, there's rust in the car yet it only has 58k on it......

For the price/mileage, seems pretty good if its legit. But yes, if it were an import direct from Japan, wouldn't it be RHD? With that being said, it was mentioned above^ that on the JDM bumper there appears to show thru the US crash bar. I know when we put mine on, we had to modify it to work. I know many people actually remove that crash bar altogether (kinda sketch). Best of luck though!

Lol, if the odometer is actually in miles and not kilometers there's no way it was imported from japan. The owner is full of crap

Turns out I had read the ad incorrectly, when he stated it was imported, he meant from the US to Canada. Total miss-read on my part. The car is intact a US model.
I gained some more info from him recently, the car was started regularly in the spring, summer, fall months and stabilizer was put in the gas tank every winter.
He told me that he thinks it will just need an oil/filter change and a rad flush, but of course I'll check over everything you guys have told me.
I greatly appreciate everyone's help on this thread!

The rust is due to the 2-3 years it was winter driven.
Unfortunatly in Ontario we use salt on our roads to melt the ice. This is a huge problem with rusting vehicles aswell as causing havoc on the roads as the salt eats through everything. I'm planning on getting the rust fixed, and as long as the car is in my hands it won't see another Ontario winter as I have another vehicle.

Like the title says I am days away from buying an 06 Evo 9 GSR and i have a few questions that i was hoping some of you could answer.
The car is a pretty unique case so ill start from the beginning of what i know.

For starters i am purchasing this car in Canada off of a private seller, who beforehand bought the car from a fellow in the US, who imported the car from japan. making me (potentially) the 3rd or 4th owner i believe.
The car has a few decent mods
( Link: https://gyazo.com/7d51d13cf46afe9755741872165bc49f ) and 36,500 miles on it (or 58800km) this will be my first "real" car purchase and as you can imagine im pretty excited.

Here is where i need some assistance though.
The gentleman im buying the vehicle off of is a pilot, who lives in japan but works out of my city. To my understanding he has been living in japan for around 4 years now and the car has been sitting in an airplane hangar for that entire duration until now when he has finally decided to sell it (plates still have the 2012 sticker)
Being that the vehicle has sat for so long it is in great shape, besides some rust after being winter driven for two years then parked for 4 ( rust pictured here: https://gyazo.com/866858279b0c4b1c927bb281eb547344 as well as in the engine bay here: https://gyazo.com/d9e518f055701123664de8f327e55c71 ).

Ive already browsed the forums on what maintenance i should preform when buying a used evo, but im not sure what else i should be looking for with a car that has been sitting for such a long time.
I would appreciate any and all assistance with what sort of things i should be looking for / questions i should be asking before i buy the vehicle, as well as any insight on what sort of maintenance I should preform after the sale.
This will be my first time spending a large amount of money on a car so id really like to do everything the right way.
Thanks to everyone in advance!

Congratulations on the car! Looks beautiful. Just a shoutout from your neighbors in MN and here to lend a hand with any questions

Thanks Adam! It's a great feeling knowing there are people out there who are nice enough to lend a hand without even knowing each other, and that goes for everyone who helped out on this thread. It's people like you guys who make the car community so great!
Thank you
