Hello , my name is Ahad I'm looking to buy an evo ix today.
Quick details
102k miles
5speed
salvage title (don't have pictures of damage but says it was hit in the front and back)
body is pretty good
interior is also good
PRICE 10k
Now this will be my first turbo car and I have a lot to learn but from what I have gathered is to just keep up with maintenance and these cars will treat you right ? I test drove the car it drove fine until the Intercooler pipe came loose and almost over heated.
Now here is my real question I'm looking at another evo same year 06 but an RS with a 6 speed. I've read about the transmission and stuff. This one is for $16k and had 50k miles but salvage. The RS drove perfect whereas the evo 9 had a loose piping. Which one would be the best bet ? The tranny can't be that bad on the 6 speed , can it ?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated ! And I apologize if this is the millionth post asking the same question haha

Honestly, without pics...etc its hard to gove a good opinion. Im not a fan of any type of salvage titled car. Thats just me though. Also and IC pipe poping off wont cause the car to overheat....it also wont drive very well, if at all, with the pipe off.

Be careful w/these salvaged cars. RS's did not come w/6 speeds

save your money and spend $14k on a clean title 03-04 evo with 100-120k miles. you'll get a lot better value for your money

At least if the evo mileage is high with a clean title, it will be easier for you to sell the car if the time ever comes for you to part ways. You know?

You may want to check with your insurance agent also, about insuring a salvage vehicle.
Unless you are buying to go racing.
