First saw a white Evo 5 GSR in Istanbul (must have been around 1997 or so) and it just stopped me in my tracks. Didn't know what it was...but I knew it was serious.

A few years later, I got to drive my buddy's Evo 6--TME. Life changing experience. Been trying to get one for years and snapped up the Evo 8 as soon as I could get my hands on one.

I used to own a Galant VR4 in the 90s, went through the love/hate relationship that is owning a DSM, swore I'd never own another, fast forward to a month ago, walk out of the ajoining VW dealership after dropping off the gf's GTI, see a red EVO, take a test drive.... 4 hours later I bought the one in the showroom. Im a f'ing sucker for these things.

None of the above. I think just being a fan of racing and sports cars led me to the Evo. I grew watching the likes of Peter Revson and Mark Donahue race Can-Am cars at Laguna Seca. Since then it's been a series of cars and trucks over the years. I bought a WRX in '02 since it was the best bang-for-the-buck at the time and that led me to want more, which translates to an Evo today.

It's been so long...I already forgot how it started

When I got hooked with cars, I started to check out really cool cars, and stumbled upon the JDM utopian dream that wasn't available in the US. The unavailability of the car in the US made me crave it even more (kinda like the girl that you know you can't have....but you want nonetheless). That's when I got hooked.

It's been a long time craving it....and still I don't have one. But that'll change one day!! It will be mine (someday)!!!

Just like some people here i had a 4G63 (91 GVR4, 90 GSX)before and needed to up grade. Once you go AWD you can never go back. One of my things is i have to always upgrade, need better and faster and the EVO did that for me.

Other...

The reason why I got hooked on the Evo is because of the DSM's. The DSM's were great cars and still are. When you can get a car that is stock to put you back to where you used to be, it's a no brainer. The car is incredible, who couldn't fall in love with it? So...my husband and I saw no other choice as the perfect vehicle!

Like a lot of people here, I was a DSM owner who loved to modify. After getting my GST to make some good power I began to realize why FWD was a bad thing, so I was sort of considering switching to an AWD anyway. A short time later my GST was totaled by a drunk and I had to find a new car. My wifes sister told me to get an Evo. I'd heard of them but didn't really know anything about them. When I looked up the specs and found it was everything I wanted to do to my Eclipse; 16g turbo & supporting mods, suspension -- I just had to have it.

I still owe my wifes sister something for that advice!

Gran Tursimo and Jacki Chan. The Evo driving on it's side was sick! lol
Also from trips to see my uncle in London. Seeing the older ones in person definitely got me hooked!

WRC!

The WRC and actrually the WRX. I used to want a WRX and then the Evo finally came out here and I saw one at the Mitsu dealer next to the Subie dealer. After reading all the reviews & comparisons that started coming out, I knew that the Evo was the car for me.

It started for me waaayy back in 93 when I bought my Eclipse GSX.. When I satrted tuning it with Garry Marsh of Speed Injected.. Well he used to be a rally driver, and he would always be telling me about EVO's over in Jamaica.. The thought of a 4door, that kicked soo much *** the way it did back then. And now seeing it for what it has EVOLVED into.. That's what got me into it.. As well as watching the WRC... Now THAT'S driving...

My husband and what I've seen/read about Evos turned me on to this car. I have always been into cars, most of which were Hondas (I've had 2 Civics, 2 Accords and a CRX). I never even gave Mitsubishi a second look. In Dec 2002, I purchased a 2003 Honda Accord. Then, I start hearing/reading about the Evo and what it's capable of. I was sick of the lack of power in the Accord. I was ready for something totally different. I was so loyal to Honda, I couldn't even believe I was thinking of "cheating". I finally went and test drove an Evo and that was it...I was sold!!! I have NO regrets of buying this car. I have only had it for 4 months now, but I'm always looking for a reason to drive it....even if there isn't one.
