If you don't get a refund soon, maybe see if STM is willing to have you ship them the shortblock and all your components, and have them clean and assembled the engine. Least they can do imo.

I was told they are taking it back, just waiting to hear details.
If it's taken apart and reassembled, then it kinda defeats the purpose of spending a ridiculous amount of money for a factory short block. Unacceptable. If they want to do all that and sell it to someone at a reduced price, that's up to them. I paid for a factory-built short block. I paid $3,200 for peace of mind, not "I hope they did it right".

Interested to see how this plays out and how STM handles this situation.

I'm a very impatient person myself, but in my 35 years I've learned sometimes just chill and relax, clear your head, its the weekend, Stm is closed, nothing you can do until Monday morning.
I work in shipping and receiving, I see this type of mishandling EVERYDAY, that why I asked you " I hope you rejected that package !"

Consider this a life lesson, we live, and we learn that is what it's about.
Stay cool papa, Monday morning wake up, thank the man for allowing you another 24 hrs to do something positive, give Stm a call if they don't beat you to it, MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN A POSITIVE SPRIT BEFORE YOU CALL, stay calm, don't raise your voice, and I guarantee it will work out for you..

I'm almost 100% positive it didn't leave the vendor Stm ordered from like that, I'm 100% positive it didn't leave Stm like that, it happened in route during the transfer !
It's not their fault but, they are obligated to resolve the issue.

This is a load I recently loaded, the customer received it damaged, my own supervisor didn't believe me !!!
The driver cut the seal off and put another load on trying to make more money.
The product you see was everywhere, like a tornado hit it.
If I didn't have this picture they where going to suspend me for 3 days, I take pictures of everything I do.
I have not said a word to my supervisor in over three weeks, when I showed my proof to the board of review, they were SPEECHLESS

Moral of the story, it left my facility in tack, and the customer received damaged product which they rejected and sent back to us at our expense..

Take my advice that's all I'm saying, they aren't going to ruin their name over $3,200.00 dollars..

The BOL doesnt help you? Seal number? Shrink wrapped pallet count?

Horrible that you have to take pictures and the lack of trust

$3.2K should be chump change for STM....

Possibly, but it's been five days without any solution. I guess I was wrong in assuming taking care of my end would be simple.
If I could afford it, I would buy another so at least my car would be running while they figure out what they want to do.

Update:

STM is working out a schedule with a freight company. To have it picked up, inspected, and a refund issued is expecting to take "a few weeks".
**** me.

Looks like STM has filed a claim w/Roadrunner & is awaiting the outcome before they credit you

In any event, I would just want my credit. They can do whatever they want w/the contaminated motor

That's where I'm stuck. No car for approx a month. I thought footing the bill for an OEM block would be the quickest, simplest, and best way to ensure getting the car reliable and drivable. Lesson learned.
My other option is to put another on my credit card, be out $6400, and make credit card payments on the balance until I get my refund.

Not like I had a choice. I just put another shortblock on my credit card. I am missing an event this weekend and have another next weekend, so I kinda need the engine, like, last week. The one I'm missing this weekend was pre-paid, so I'm out the entry fee.
Oh, and this block cost me an extra $100 to get here in time to *hopefully* have it ready for following weekend.
To say I'm less than happy with this whole situation is a complete and total understatement.

Leave it to a shipping company to throw a wrench in your build progress. STM even made sure it was palletized, and the company still goes and messes it up. Being that it happened at the end of the week, I'm sure they will be in contact with you as soon as they resolve with the company, which should be within the next day. Not comforting in this situation but it's the reality of it.

Road Runner has a rude awakening coming, as much freight shipping as STM does it really is in Road Runner's best interest to take care of you. On top of your detailed photo's there is no denying fault. I know how Emery is, and he will drop them out of his list of shipping vendors like they never existed if they try to play games. You will be taken care of 150% without a doubt
