And I'd rate them all accordingly

This is how we have been advised to handle freight claims in the past, so we aren't ignoring things we have been advised to do by reps, over what people say on the forums......

First off Good Morning hope all is well in the N.Y.
Secondly thanks for trying to get Mr. Kaj situated !
Thirdly, the reason I made my statement is because I deal with different carriers everyday ( Swift, Crst, Jb hunt, Knight, Old dominion, Saia, USF Reddaway, Owner/Operators)
Just to name a few !

The the point, when something arrives at the facility DAMAGED, I make phone calls, I document it, I send emails to everybody including my Plant Mgr, and lastly it is put back on the trailer and rejected. We don't pay for damaged goods, we don't accept damaged goods.
But as you stated, every company is different.
Thank you for chiming in, and have a awesome Tuesday !
And to clear my end up, I know it didn't leave Stm like that, it is the carriers fault, a mishandled package.
Later...

This . As a consumer, if you accept delivery of damaged goods, you change the legal landscape to your disadvantage. While STM is stepping up to make things right, lots of companies do not.

I apologize if I'm coming across impatient, but I am (admittedly). My frustration stems from ordering in time to have the car ready for events I signed up for and now losing money on the entry fees. Also, $3,200 is a large investment for me and I had high expectations. I'm not putting any of that on You guys, hence that thread title. I am upset the refund is talking a while but I'm realistic; I can't expect it when I still have the product in my possession. I do feel it should have been picked up by now, though. Only because I don't like being out $6,500, which I know you understand.
And are they REALLY not gong to reimburse you for return shipping? That's B.S., dude.
Lastly, I tried to be as detailed as I could regarding damage, on the paperwork. I hope that helps you out.

Let me know what you need as it's done dizzel.

Thanks for the quick response when originally accepting package, notating it on BoL(that is key), and the pictures. That is everything we needed on your part.

We will be getting you refunded as soon as we can get the block back to us, and we wil be handling the claim on our own from there on out so you won't have to wait on anything. ( can take anywhere from 30-90 days lol....*le sigh*... freight companies ) .

No problem. I just wanted to make sure to let everyone know we didn't take that step to try and screw him over at all. Its how we have been advised to handle stuff in the past from a few different companies and reps. So that is how we told him to advise it.

'Kaj' documented everything well, so that helps alot on getting this going.

We are working with the claims department now to have them pick up block, and we have told them we want the block shipped back to us, so we will hold and handle the rest of the claim from there on out until they get it finished. That way Kaj isn't stuck holding a block and waiting 30-90 days for any sort of reimbursement.

I remember, back in the day, when businesses were all about costumer service, not trying to weasel their way out of their ef ups.
way to go RoadRunner.

Update:

Re: Picking Up The Damaged Block:

- 3/9: Freight company contacts me for pick up. It's scheduled for Friday the 10th. Wow. That's fast!
- 3/10: It wasn't picked up. The company that was supposed to pick it up ducks my calls.
- 3/11-3/14: No contact.
- 3/15: I finally find the phone number of the guy who originally contacted me. He seems surprised it wasn't picked up. He says he will call me back, later in the day, to schedule pick up. He didn't.
- 3/16: Frustrated that nobody seemed willing to do anything, I offer STM to self-pay to get the block back to them so I could get my refund. No, i did not want to lose $250-300 in shipping costs to get my $3,200 back, but it's better than waiting indefinitely and paying interest on that $3,300 (I paid an extra $100 for expedited shipping; more on that later). Luckily, Brian @ STM was able to reach his rep and I will *allegedly* hear back from him (the rep) today to schedule pick up. I literally JUST got a phone call and scheduled a pick up for tomorrow between 10am and 1pm. We'll see....
Either way, thanks Brian!

Re: The OTHER Shortblock I Ordered:

So, to expedite things, I ordered another short block on March 6. Not too big of a deal because the old engine was to be picked up March 10, so I'd probably have my refund before my billing cycle ended. I pay an extra $100 to get the block here by Tues the 14, as opposed to the 16th or later.

Anyway...

- March 6: Ordered another shortblock, this time for $3,300 to get it here two days sooner than normal shipping (again, LOLz). I'm told a tracking number will follow shortly. It didn't.
- March 14: Shortblock was supposed to be delivered today. It wasn't. Color me surprised? I have no tracking number to see where it is.
- March 15: I get a call from the shipping company. The rep apologized and told me that the engine was held up due to weather and was currently in Stockton, scheduled for delivery on the 16th between 10am-1pm . I type in the tracking number she gives me and get an old shipment from 2014. She says, "that's weird" but offers no solution. She says that's the tracking number she's using so "sorry", but I can call any time I want to check the status.
- March 16: Another call from shipping company. This time I'm told the truck was in an accident or had other issues but the block will be in San Bernadino tonight and here tomorrow, between 10am-1pm. I point out that yesterday it three hours north of me, today it's three hours south of me so I tell them that I no longer believe anything they tell me, because apparently, they will just make **** up at will.

So, now I am waiting for a supposed pick up tomorrow as well as a delivery which it seems I wasted $100 on, for the expedited shipping. Hopefully, once the old block is returned, I will I receive my refund. I've been out that $3,200 for quite some time, at this point.

I will never, ever go through this again. I will never order anything that has to be sent via freight. I will pay extra for local services. This has been one of the biggest pains in my *** I've ever dealt with. It's extremely frustrating to spend so much money for products and services, have it all go wrong, then be stuck on the short end because there's nothing I can do, myself, to fix it. The people that CAN fix it, will be out quite a bit of money when they do. It makes sense that they are dragging their feet on this whole thing. I'm the only one out money, at the moment. So what do they care? LOL.

Anyway... hopefully y'all can learn from my mistakes.

Just to note the northeast and part of the midwest were just hit with a major snow storm so i would at least add a week to your timeline. I would be just as frustrated in your situation too. I would just keep close communication with STM or whomever you used to ensure everything is on track. Again sorry for your troubles and hope you get some good luck soon!

That's funny. I just saw a YouTube video by superspeedersrob in which he goes on a rant about car shipping companies. The excuses the shipping company gave you is the same crap they gave him. The bs excuses they gave were flat tires, weather, etc. In the end though there is not much you can do about it.

Shipment should have been off the East Coast LONG before any of those storms hit. Given that their pick up/drop off/tracking info is complete and utter bull ****, who really knows?

Unfortunately, I'm wanting OEM reliability and durability. I have yet to see a built engine go 115k miles before needing a rebuild.

It's ****ing ridiculous. I can't speak for everyone, but if someone is being honest with me and keeping me in the loop, I'm extremely understanding. I think this thread proves that. But when I'm being ignored and/or lied to, that's it. I'm done. When I called the dude out on the Stockton/San Bernadino thing, he never even acknowledged me. He just changed the subject each time I brought it up. Shady bastards.

Update:
1pm comes around. Guess what! No engine! Hard to believe, I know.

So I call. The engine just got to San Bernadino today. Not yesterday, but today. This means they missed the trucks going out for today and it won't go out until tomorrow. Which means it won't be in Fresno until Saturday. Which means I will, theoretically, get it on Monday. A full 6 days later than Tues which, again, I paid an extra $100 to have it here.
How ****ing awesome.

On the bright side, the damaged block was picked up today, so I should see a refund within a week.

I'm about to sell the ****ing car and start over with something else. l

Update. The engine wasn't in San Bernadino. It's now in New Mexico. I may get it on Tuesday. Too bad i took this week off to put the motor in.
The irony? Had i saved myself $100 and NOT paid for the faster shipping, it would probably be here by now.

..Burn.
