Transfer case leaking??

Transfer case leaking??

Hi I replace my evo 9 engine oil today and I found out that the transfer case to the transmission have a bit oil leaking its grey colour so I think it's one of the seal Is bad cause the leaking?? Can I still drive the car? Is it going do any damage to the car if I don't fix it immediately?

i would not recommend driving it, there is no dipstip that you can check the level daily and top off, if the transfer case is low on fluid and you drive it like that, you have a good chance of messing it up internally it. I would have it fixed as soon as you can.

okay thanks, just got a quote it will cost me around 1000 to get it fixed included new seal, oil labour, is that responsible price to get it fixed?

Ok labor wise if is 1 hour to do the rear seal on the transfer that's $100 dollar labor on our shop, worst case they have to remove the transfer and do all gaskets and seals that's 5 hours​ labor $500 plus fluid and all seals it should not exceed $600 to $700. $1000 seems a little excessive to me.

they told me need to remove the t case to replace the seal and subframe need to come off to remove the t case.

Labor on tcase r&i is 6hrs. Plus time to tear down and rebuild if its one of the case seals that's leaking..

my transfer case is making the whining noise pretty loud when I'm on 2k-3k rpm, is it good idea to just rebuild the transfer case instead of just replacing the seals?
