Car not starting
First time posting here, didnt really want to make an account for this reason
My car drove like normal on the way to work. Everything seemed fine until I tried to start it when coming back home. The starter motor just revved freely and made a fast whine and sounded like it had no resistance. Some smoke came from the front left and the car refused to start. I tried push starting it but that didnt work. The timing belt turned when I tried to start it and it seems like the battery is not the issue. Sorry im just starting to work on my car myself and im pretty new to all this. The reason why I am posting is because I got a timing belt job less than 1000kms ago and im scared something wasnt done right and there could be serious damage to my engine. I took it to a well known shop with a good reputation that works on alot of import cars. The guys who worked on my car have an Evo 6 and 7 so I seems like they know their stuff. I called them about the problem and they are going to get the car towed there tomorrow to see what the problem is. The mechanic said its probably the starter when talking over the phone but the timing belt was rotating so im not sure if thats it. Has anyone else had this problem? its an Evo VII btw
