More Popping Sound Diagnosis

I spun into a tire wall on track (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/pr...ld-thread.html) where I basically lost the front bumper, had a little frame sway in front, etc. and immediately following, have had a popping noise at full lock during low speed parking maneuvers. It's consistent in that it will happen every time, but not in that it happens the exact same way. It's pretty significant/present, and it's tangible through the pedals. it seems to be coming from the front right.

Immediate thought is something with the axle/cv - nothing seems torn though, no leaks, so idk if it's the axle itself, wheel bearing/suspension component? steering mechanism? blown shock? t's only at/around full lock, only when the car is moving, ie doesn't do it when i turn the wheel side to side while the car is stationary.
  • Audible and tangible popping coming from front right
  • Only at low (parking lot) speed, high steering angle/full lock
  • No noises when driving normal, fast, slow straight, going through corners
  • No noises over bumps

Have you tried having the car in air, wheel at full lock, and letting the wheels roll out? Either by hand or letting the engine do it..

ok:
  • with the car in the air, steering cranked - no popping
  • with the car in the air, steering cranked, and I spin the wheel by hand - no popping
  • with the car in the air, steering straight, then cranked by friend as I spin the wheel by hand - no popping
so, we are looking at some sort of suspension loaded issue here, right? idk if anything can be ascertained from looking at this at full droop (wheel turned right)

any other thoughts based on
  • with the car in the air, steering cranked - no popping
  • with the car in the air, steering cranked, and I spin the wheel by hand - no popping
  • with the car in the air, steering straight, then cranked by friend as I spin the wheel by hand - no popping
if I can't recreate it in the air, it's going to be very difficult to source..

looks like i'll start replacing some of the bushings here - the superpro caster one, the tie rod end, and the WL roll center adjuster, whichever one that is. maybe some of the other bushings too, but could also be something bent in the steering rack

if the sound has a frequency to it than its probably coming from something spinning. So maybe try going into a parking lot or some where flat and do some circles. Change speed and steering angle and see how that effects the sound.

no frequency to it, but i can drive it around and try to have someone listen to it, but it's going to be difficult to really identify where the sound is coming form like that.

If you still have it in the air you might wanna just make sure all the suspension bolts are tightened to spec. I've had a body shop do work and they just left everything loose. It drove muellerized nuts when I brought it for an alignment.

tried driving the car while it was up on the lift, wheels turning in 1st, doing what i usually would do for the popping noise to come - nothing.

thinking at this point suspension then? That said, when I turn the wheel from side to side on the ground, nothing happens - just unsure what it is at this point...

so i unbolted and rebolted the front coilovers, with no other changes to the car, the popping noise changed - migrating to full crank on left (instead of right, no more sound on right lock) and i'm pretty sure now it's fsb/power steering line alignment, which is an issue i've had before. happens at about 41s

Car finally at the shop and he said the steering rack bushings are blown - could that have been the source of noise?
