Anybody Know What This Is?

This red, what looks to be a light bulb, has been here since I bought the car 2 years ago.

No idea what it’s for.

It's probably an aftermarket alarm "armed" LED. Do you have an aftermarket keyfob?

I had the same thing on my RS, its an aftermarket immobilizer, at least it looks exactly like that. Mine was installed by insurance company. Like djscoto said too there should be a key fob also.

I have the same bulb in the same location, I figured it was something to do with the scrambleboost function of the ebc or something to do with the dumb turbo timber the PO had installed... I never got an extra fob.

^ could also be this, there are many functions for an led in the dash, it would help to know how/when it lights up or behaves..

It could also be part of a failsafe for a meth kit.

I remember back in the day there were kits for map switching that came with and LED that would illuminate when you were on ALT maps.

I’ve never seen it light up before. Or if it has I’ve never noticed it

That's right! I couldn't remember who was making those. In the glovebox is probably where it belongs, I'm not really a fan of drilling holes in the dash.
