Evo 5 Project - Germany

My first post and new to Evo's...I'm in the process of purchasing an Evo 5 in Germany with its engine sitting next to it. Likely not the smartest move, but dig the model and hope to return it to the US in a couple of years.

Hopefully, I'm not hitting above my weight with this project...and the shell is solid (electrical areas since no power has been applied to the car in 4 years).

May I ask how the parts supply is for these?

Is it worth the time to get it running (shell is rust free).

Thanks and hope to contribute more as we get involved.

Do it. Is it worth it? Uhhhhh...that's relative to sanity and all that jazz but probably end up sound choice due to price spike. Get it now before you're priced out!

osetsky: Appreciate the response. I understand - car projects aren't done for $.

I'm actually quite interested in a 'roller' vice running due to cost and desire for a project rather than just a car. The seller claims it ran until the piston holed and was disassembled. Everything is included...of course with a big bucket of bolts!

Am I to assume the Mitsubishi dealer no longer carries any normal parts for these? My last project (1997 BMW), surprisingly had many OEM parts still available...most quite reasonable.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you would have to source a lot of parts in JDM land/UK as I don't think EVO V is sold in Germany

EVOFans: I think you are correct. I'm not sure what the car will need, but no doubt a many odds and ends...which probably aren't available any longer. Fortunate that it appears to be a good bit of interchangeability amongst the years. It was a complete car when it rolled into the shop with a holed piston. More to follow!
