Finally finished putting the motor together, put it in, ready for street tune... then realized there was a small boost leak. fixed it, and didn't go back to wastegate map to start over and it spiked 42psi on a 21psi map. when it got to about 35 psi the spark plug let go cause it got too lean. melted away literally. sucks. I have a second head that is getting decked at the moment, to make it a quicker turnaround ... hopefully back on the road soon. it did not pass leakdown test. def have to replace the valves. the struggle is real. Wasn't sure where to post in all these diff threads.. so I chose general.
Left the link to my video explaining everything when we took the head off to see damage.
Well, something not right occurred during the build or tune? Its certainly not a 4G63 issue!
You maybe relatively close to MGW in Miami. Have them take a look at this & come up w/a plan to correct
If their plan sounds reasonable$, have them do the correction
def dont think its a 4g63 issue. we are some odd hours away from miami. but we are pretty confident it went lean bc of the fixed boost leak issue i mentioned above.

I hope you get this corrected & have a reliable wash / wear EvO. Totally feel the pain & understand
Looks like the piston was getting ready to melt a hole through it. Probably was detonating from to lean of mixture or too much timing advance. Where you logging at all when this happened and what fuel was used?
its on e85. i managed to upload the log. it was a pain to figure it out. not friendly at all...
the clamp wasn't tight on the coupler under the turbo... it popped off on the first pull.. didn't notice until after session when it logged 10psi. tuner thought 10psi was wastegate, so he upped boost to make 24psi, i then fixed the coupler. and since he upped it to 24 and the boost leak was fixed.. it spiked to 42. i didn't tell him about the coupler popping off cause im an idiot and missed it. hopefully you can read the log. lmk
