Garage condensation
Garage condensation
Does anyone else get a lot of build up of condensation in their garage. I just bought a house and previously the car was always in an open air multi story garage. But now that it’s in a regular enclosed garage, I always get some moisture on the floor of the garage from the car after I park it. Then in the morning I’ll have a lot of water vapor from the exhaust. It’s gotta be that because I don’t get that buildup when I start the car cold at work.
are you running the ac a lot before you park in the garage? All that ac condensation is gonna drip onto your garage floor and not evaporate if so. I've never had issues with condensations or water vapor in my garage, living in Fla.
I live in So.Cal which is a dry climate. Yeah, running a de-humidfier is not cheap especially when its in the garage protecting a material item
I've recently moved, and my new garage seems more damp than my previous one, no condensation, but I will be looking into some type of remedy. Hopefully i find something worth while and can follow up.

I moved from California (no humidity) to New York (humidity) and the garage would get pretty humid in the summer.
I made sure the garage was sealed pretty well and purchased an industrial Alorair dehumidifier. Night and day difference. It takes all the humidity out of the space. I was lucky in that our sump pump is also in the same space, so I just have the dehumidifier dump the water from the air into the sump.

Before I got my dehumidifier in my shop it was so humid in the summer in my shop that I actually had a little bit of mold trying to grow on the back seat of the evo while it was sitting in the shop. It was so humid in my shop that I also had rust starting to form on my sockets and some of my tools as they were in my tool box. I bought a monstrous 192 pint commercial/industrial dehumidifier and it was the best thing I did in my shop to date. It can be 90 inside, and with the dehumidifier set to 50% humidity and the fans running it feels very comfortable. People who come into my shop in the summer say "oh, you've got AC here" - but I don't (it's just a dehumidifier)
I also run a smaller 70 pint dehumidifier in my small 2.5 car garage.
