Transfer Case drain plug threading
ok - i just used this:
with this pump:
worked really, really well. the black tip of the pump actually fits right INTO the hole of the barb and stays there. the hole of the fitting from the first link is kind of on the large side, but just makes getting the fluid in easier, I imagine.
i'm still working on a container solution to put the pump into though. for now what i did was pour it into an open measuring cup essentially, filled it with the quart, and pumped it into the t-case. as others mentioned, I almost got the entire quart in. i'd say the overall amount of fluid lost between disconnecting everything was fairly minimal, and in any case much more fluid in the t-case than from the pump-til-it-drips method, or even my extreme tilt-the-car method.
will continue with this method in the future. i'm hoping this container: will connect to that new pump i've got and that'll make life easier.
thanks a lot, this worked much better than I thought and frankly not even as messy as I was worried it'd be, probably even cleaner the regular method.
